BEWARE 2for1inkjet.com/BizRate questionable resource

Disclaimer: I have not bought anything from this site, but in surfing around I came across them and saw they had a BizRate banner (the mouseover says, "BizRate Customer Certified (Gold) Site"). Sounds pretty legit, huh? But when you click on it, it brings you to a page with no title and ratings of FIVE across the board. Now if you check out BizRate a lot, you'll notice that it's very seldom you see a SEVEN, and almost never anything lower.

So I emailed BizRate's customer service to inquire, and this is the email I received:

2 for 1 has been temporarily removed from our site. I don't know when or if they will be put back up.


Please be aware that on our 10 point scale, receiving a 5 is the equivalent of an F.

I thought...maybe I misunderstood. Maybe they're showing up as 5's BECAUSE they were removed from the site; like maybe that's some sort of default rating or something. So I mailed her back to clarify and here's her response:

2 for 1 earned the rating.


It is up to the participant to stay in the program, if they choose to withdraw, they may do so.

So, there's a couple of things you can get out of this. For one, BEWARE 2for1inkjet.com! For another, check for yourself if you see a BizRate logo...don't take their word that the site is "BizRate (Gold) Certified." And last of all, BizRate is only so useful as a source of information: websites ASK to be rated, and if they find they're being rated poorly, they can just quit the program.
