Angry

Just had a HORRIBLE experience at McDonalds.

I was with my dad, 2 sisters, and my brother.

It was around 8 PM. Not too busy, a few people in there.

Anyways, we go in there and are looking at what to get. My dad walks up and we walk over to him.

The lady asks what he wants he says a Filet-O-Fish Combo. Then she proceeds to walk away and get the combo ready, WHILE the rest of us are waiting to order. She comes back and asks "Anything else?" And my dad says yes, that all 5 of us are together. My little sister gives her a Monopoly piece for a free Chicken McNuggets, and also orders a small fries, and a chocolate shake. My sister orders a hamburger, with a Monopoly piece, a small fry, and a chocoloate shake. My brother orders a Quarter Pounder, Root Beer, and fries. And finally I order a Chocolate shake.

Mind you, during this she walks over to start preparing the shake....found it QUITE rude, considering the rest of us HAD NOT ever ordered.

The total comes to about $13, my dad gives the money, and gets change. He takes the Filet-O-Fish combo and goes to sit down, and I grab my shake, waitiing for the rest of the food.

The cashier obviously did not know what to do with the Monopoly Freebies, so she called a manager guy over who helped.

This is what bugs me, the lady then asks the next person in line what they want! We STILL have not gotten the orders for my sisters or my brother! We are waiting and waiting, and the lady asks ANOTHER person!

She ends up taking and GIVING orders to 3 PEOPLE....AND WE ARE STILL WAITING!

Finally the other cashier asks if he can help us, and my brother says she is helping us. And he says "You are getting Happy Meals?" We say NO. And he looks confused....apparently the monitor says the last order was happy meals.

He goes back to check and prints out our receipt. He goes over it with my brother. The lady did not enter the McNuggets, hamburger, or quarter pounder! She entered the shakes and fries...yet we didn't see them.

The other cashier takes pity on us and gets us our food.

By this time my dad is done, and it has been about 10 minutes.

It was just absolutely ridiculous.

McDonalds needs to teach their employees how to enter FREE FOOD ITEMS and GIFT CERTIFICATES -- I have NEVER been to McD's where the cashiers know how to enter these!

Whats more is that there was garbage on the tables, garbage cans were overflowing. Some guy in regular old street clothes, NO UNIFORM, was mopping the floors for about 2 seconds. Then walked away leaving a bucket of dirty water sitting out, the whole time while we were there.

The floors are sticky, the bathrooms have no soap, towels all over, dirty counters.

One of the managers goes to the kiddy land to start talking to their friends...

And to top it all off, some kid brought his BIKE IN AND WAS RIDING IT AROUND. And NO ONE TOLD HIM TO STOP.

Boy was my dad mad! He went RIGHT HOME and called their customer service line and told the operator EVERY SINGLE DETAIL....she was APPALLED, and said they often do mystery shoppers.

My dad said what they need to do is get the executives out their, and see what THEY have to say. They would probably close the place down!!

Sorry that this is so long but I just had to rant!

It seems like the fast food places are going MORE AND MORE downhill each day....whatever happened to the customer comes first?? That was THE LAST TIME I am EVER eating in there.

Any place that wants my money had BETTER get me my food quickly, and have a clean eating area.

you said whatever happen to customer comes first???????????????? Good question. It seems like now its give me your money and get out of my way.
Sorry you had such a rough time your dad did right to complain. I think I would have yelled at the manger too while I was there. To give you such poor service and make you pay for it that awful. Hope McDonald's sends you some coupons for free food.

I hope they send us something too.

What bugs me is their commercials! "We Love to See You Smile!"

Yeah...RIGHT!

If I had kids I would NEVER bring them there. Forget it. It is too slow, and ridiculously dirty.

Kylie - thanks!!

My dad called the customer service line and talked to one of their reps. She was appalled and took down his name, address, etc.

I did Planet Feedback through Memolink.

If we DO get free food coupons, let's hope that the employees know how to correctly enter them into the cash registers!

In our home town , the McD's stores have a virtual monopoly on their locations. They are always very busy but provide poor service too.

A close relative worked for them for 2 years and told some scarey stories - this location made the employees use the very same floor mop to clean the bathroom floors and toilets AND the tables and seats in the lobby. No time to get a different mop and they only provided one mop for the store. Also the young people who worked there were told to use the very same sink in which they clean meats trays , etc. , to put the dirty floor mop to soak. yuk!!!

And this location is considered to be one of their 'newer' stores. ?

In my opinion , I only eat at one of their stores when totally desperate.

bonniejeanne is welcome here
We have some good McDonald's in town, and some bad ones. The one closest to us gets our order wrong 50% of the time. And they always forget to ring up the coupons I give them. I gave them one of those free hamburger pieces from the Monopoly game and the girl forgot to ring it up. I pointed it out to her when she gave me the receipt (which I always remember to ask for since they don't give one to you willingly) and she told me just to keep the coupon and use it next time. I told her no, that I wanted my money back for it (which she did end up giving me). The fries are the worst in town; I think I've had decent fries there once. It's hard finding a clean table, too. Unfortunately, my kids like McDonald's and it is close to us, though I try not to go there too often.

Now there's another McDonald's on the other side of town that is great! My son asked about how the cash register operated once, and the girl took him back behind the counter and explained the whole thing to him. She was so nice. I wish I would have thought about it at the time to get her name so that I could tell her boss how wonderful she was.

Bonnie -

We used to have good McDonalds back in MN too! They were always very good.

You NEVER had to spend 10 min. in line--when it was busy, they opened more registers! The restaurant was CLEAN, as in no garbage on tables or floor.

And the food was so much fresher...none of this stuff that you can tell has been sitting out all day.

Once in a while I will get good fries...but you have to get them RIGHT when they come out of the fryer. Some guy I know, his kids are real picky, went in and asked for new fries because his were cold and not fresh. Whatever floats your boat I guess!!

Now if McDonalds did some QUALITY CONTROL and made sure their restaurants were all great, they would get a LOT more business!

My dad said back in the day you WANTED to work at McD's, because if you had THAT on your transcript, you could get a job most anywhere! Nowadays it is the opposite--maybe if McD's gave their employees a raise and better benefits, they would be a little kinder.

Big grin Wendy's

My response to all of the above complaints is : Wendy's. Of course, if you have no option, then that's not a choice. However, McD's seems to feel they have a monopoly on fast food, especially along the freeways. Well, they don't! And they need to learn they don't. IMHO, I feel Wendy's is much fresher, better customer service, and more healthy selections.

Por Favor

Our Wendy's consistently gets orders wrong, and nobody there seems to understand English. I love a company that will hire our growing Hispanic population, but if the majority of your customer base is ENGLISH speaking, PLEASE get someone who understands ENGLISH to work the register!

I never feel like I get any value when I eat fast food. We hardly EVER eat fast food any more, and it used to be an every day occurence, but it's so fattening - let alone the other things mentioned here! Afer reading Chessie2000's post, I NEVER want to eat out again! That was just gross, and I believe it's true too!

Rolling eyes

I can believe it! These fast food places are generally bad enough , but they actually think customers want to order Big Macs and Whoppers at 10:30 in the morning.

I guess most of us only eat at these places now if we are totally desperate. Some of them have a total monopoly on the dining business in their locations. Drat!

I liked the salads that McDonalds offered before they downsized them and put them in those large plastic ' soda cups '. Their vinagerette dressing had very little if any fat grams. But now , the salads at Wendys are much nicer and lower in cost.

While I have also had the fast food "horror story" experiences, I was also on the other side of the counter when I was 16.... I experienced the rude customers and to tell you the truth, most of the young kids they brign in these places could'nt care less if you're having a good time... Not that they have anything against you personally, but the 6.50 they make an hour is'nt even covering gas money... (especially now)... The shift leaders barely make over minimum wage, yet Mcdonalds is a multi billion dollar company.... I just dont go to any restaurant... It's healthier to cook yourself...

I somewhat agree with scooter22..

.. the part about cooking yourself. Or, going to something better than a fast food joint you don't actually enjoy (nor does your body, with all that fat in the food). just MHO

Mcdonalds does have mystery shoppers, i'm one of them. I've had bad experiences and I report it as I see it. There are times it is not quite so bad but usually the people dont seem well trained.
