I had a REALLY terrible shopping experience at my local Wal-Mart - West Plains Mo - the other day. I have been upset by pricing errors on EVERY shopping trip I make, but the other day was the WORST I have ever had. I decided to call the district manager and was glad I did. I was shopping on Tues and bought Shick Silk Effects razor refills. They are very expensive and I was careful to check the correct shelf tag. It said $9.47 for 10pk refill. I checked out and took my groceries to my car. I then checked my receipt before leaving the lot. I like to watch as the items are scanned, but missed some while I was loading bags into my cart. I was SHOCKED to see the razors had rung up as $10.97! Even though it was really raining hard, I got out and went back. I checked the shelf tag again and went to cs. CS called back to dept and told me the price of $10.97 was correct. I told the girl that I checked the shelf and was sure of the price. She told me I would have to go back to my car - in the rain - and bring the item back in to even go any further. I went to the dept instead and found a helpful employee. She said I was right after looking at shelf, but went to get her boss - employee who said $10.97 was right. That person was so mean to me and said the shelf tag saying $9.47 referred to a 10pk refill with a bonus razor and the correct price for a 10pk with NO bonus razor was $10.97. I pointed out there was no tag with that price on the shelf. She said that customers often rip them off and then claim a lower price. IN other words, she said I ripped it off. I proceeded to argue my point until she said I could have it for $9.47 if I insisted. I did insist and went back to cs. I had to wait in a long line again and then the girl there was mad at me for going to the dept instead of back to my car in the rain! She took a long time to ring up my refund and acted like she couldn't do it and then threw my money on the counter when I had my hand out to get it! This all took me 30 min and I was livid. I called the district manager. He took all details and called store to check it out. When he called me back, he was SO apologetic. He could not believe that the store had confirmed all details. He also had the area supervisor call me to apologize. They are sending me a $25 gift card and I get a refund on the razors. I was so glad I called because they said they had never had a price complaint in YEARS. I have a problem EVERY time I shop there. I am calling management every time now because I am sick of bad treatment. He said the price had gone up, but it was never put on the shelf tag. I know this is long and thanks for reading, but I had to rant and rave about Wal-Mart. If you have similar problems please call management because they don't seem to be hearing about the trouble we are really having on a daily basis

I'm glad you did this.

I had a bad experience with Wal Mart last year.. and I made a post about it a couple weeks ago in General Chit Chat.. if you find it, it may be interesting to read.. I actually didn't start the thread but added to it.

After my complaint went to their Corporate headquarters.. it was all worked out very quickly with a nice gift card and apology..

Good for you for standing up for yourself!

I shop at Walmart VERY, VERY rarely. I have to be almost desperate. I had a similar experience there a few years ago. I called a mismarked price to their attention, they argued about it and also made me feel like I was somehow cheating them. I took a person back to the bin where the items were and they told me the sign was wrong and I informed them that by law they must give me the price on the sign. They hemmed and hawed, finally agreed to give me the price on the sign. I went back to the store several days later, and there was the same bin, still marked with the wrong price. I just think so many of their people are rude and stupid compared to Target. I don't mean to generalize, but I've had so many bad Walmart experiences and so few bad Target experiences.

I agree with you about liking Target, but we have ONLY Wal-Mart here in the boonies. I wish other retailers would go to small towns. It seems that only Wal-Mart does this and they are raking in the bucks with no competition. I told that district manager that I felt that this store knows that I have no place else to shop and they can get away with bad treatment and know I will be back. I did go check the tag on these razors on my next trip and I was shocked to see that they had fixed the tags. I expected it to still be wrong, but I think I shook them up by calling that district manager.

bonniejeanne is welcome here
The Walmart here is always getting our prices wrong. Every time we go there, something is always rung up too high. After noticing that they charged me too much for milk one time, I looked at my receipts for the past two months and noticed that I was overcharged numerous times. The same went for Eggos that I had bought and other various things. Now I am real careful and always check my receipt. Several times lately I have gotten items free because they overcharged me. And I really don't like that they don't even bother to put your items in your cart anymore after they ring them up. They just stare at you while you try to get your numerous bags off those hooks while they start ringing up the next customer. I really don't like Walmart, but they are so much cheaper on the items we buy that I can't afford to go anywhere else.
