Shocked

I had received the free Reflect promotion bath items that were posted on this board and gave them to a friend of mine.

On Saturday, I received a promotion in the mail from reflect.com for their cleaner, toner and moisturizer. So I figured it might be a good deal and since they honored that promotion above to visit them again. Before doing so, I wanted to find out a little about the ingredients to their products. When I looked them up, I found out that reflect.com is really owned by Procter and Gamble (who make the Olay products). I was also surprised to read that the ingredients in the products were very similiar to those of Olay or Neutrogena cleansers. Olay products are more than half price at the drugstore.

Procter and Gamble just seem to have their hand in everything. I wish they had their name of their website though. The reflect products are the same as their other line, just fancier packaging.

If anyone wants to read more about ingredients in makeup and body products, check out the book: Don't Go to the Cosmetic Counter Without Me by Paula Begoun. I have no relation to this author or to advertising any books - just wanted to let you guys know of a really good book which seems to be real informative on stuff.

Just out of curiousity - how did you find out that they are owned by P&G? I've tried searching and can't find any connection. Just wondering the search you used. Thanks

Reflect owned by P&G

Here's the article:

I don't think it is terrible that reflect is owned by P&G. I just feel like reflect's products are the same as the drugstore brands we all know. I also think P&G is trying to get 3 times the money for the pretty packaging and fooling people into thinking it is really customized.

If I had seen it on the reflect.com website I wouldn't feel they were trying to pull a fast one, but it's nowhere to be found (or at least that I could tell).

Interesting article - good find. I like P&G products so I don't see a downside either - looks like the components of the makeup are the same (course I guess you could say that of ALL makeup on the market) just more a personalized feature - kinda like going to the expensive (estee lauder) brand and getting makeover - except on line... and since they are willing to recustomize - maybe it's well worth the extra - who knows.
Thanks for the article and the answer.....

Reflect.com sent me orchids for my birthday. I had only bought two things, both were free with shipping, and I used my Fatshoe CC...so - free. I wondered how they could afford it. Now I know, with P&G marketing money. I don't feel guilty for not buying anything now.

Because I live in Cincinnati (home of P&G and Reflect), I asked them once when I called if they were owned by P&G. They said P&G was a partial owner and that the company was founded by some former employees of P&G.
