JCPenney codes + eBates not combinable!

After making a purchase through eBates, JCPenney never gave me the rebate (supposed to be $3). I asked why and eBates sent me a letter saying that certain things (like coupon codes) may "break the link" with eBates. Nothing like notice after the fact! Well, I did check on eBates FAQ page and the main page says something like all purchases get rebates. Only if you read the FAQ for people with more questions do you get the *real* answer that eBates is not combinable with some coupons, Flooz, and gift certificates. Problem is ... sometimes it *is* combinable with those things. I have gotten eBates credit for items bought with Flooz (allpets.com), items bought with GCs (spiegel.com) and items bought with discounts (allpets.com). Looks like some merchants enforce the rules and some dont!

I had similar experience: I subscribed Times at enews.com via eBate last year, but I was never credited on it. However, my recent purchase with Avon.com was very satisfactory. It was combined with a coupon code, but I saw my rebate money on my eBates account in less than five days!!

I just used a coupon code at JCPenney and also got my $3.00 rebate - just today actually. I also got a rebate on my BN purchase that was paid for with Flooz. I guess it works sometimes and not others. Sorry it didn't work for you. Now I just hope we get paid from Ebates at all since Cyberrebates declared bankrutcy, Ebates doiesn't know it they can pay the rebates they owe.

What???? I hadn't heard this. Considering they just did that big blitz of advertising, you would think they had money to back up their claims! Aaack!

I just read in another post that ebates is putting cyberrebate amounts on hold, but all other rebates will be paid as scheduled. They are going to try to get the cyberrebate money also, but for now it is just on hold in your account. Ebates claimed to have been surprised by cyberrebates sudden closing also.

I think everyone was surprise by CR closing. I thinks its cool that ebates is gonna honor the parts of the ebates not associated with CR..that seems plenty fair to me.

Now, as to the JC Penney/ebates prob...although I don't have an answer for that particular transaction, I always print out a copy of my screen when I place the order. If you print it with the "print frames" thing, it shows the "ebates" window at the top of the screen. That way you can prove you were in ebates when you made your purchase. Then, if you have a problem, at least you have some proof you were in ebates.

I've had problems with the bigger company's ebates showing up in a timely fashion but the smaller ones seem to do a good job...still waiting for a B&N one for 6 weeks...don't think I'll get that one but what they hey, I woulda bought those books anyway and the ebates was just a bonus...

IMHO, ( AND THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ANYONE PERSONALY!!) if people are buying things at places they wouldn't shop at and at prices they wouldn't ordinarily pay, and stuff that they wouldn't be buying anyway just so they can get a percentage back, I think they need to go to shoppers anonymous (HEE HEE - I'm a charter member!)

There have been many times I have NOT used ebates cuz I could find stuff cheaper elsewhere. I don't count on getting the ebate...if I do, great- if I don't, oh well...While it is frustrating, I say - ONTO more deals!!! YeeeHAAAA.

About your ebate from BN missing for 6 weeks
SkyeJazs - be sure to contact them about it. They have given me every rebate I have asked them about. One time, it took several weeks for them to give it to me, but I got it.

yep, when I contacted ebates, they told me that it is up to the merchant to tell 'em about the sale and that some are slower than others....they told me to hang tight and see what happens in 2-4 weeks more.

(I also told 'em that I have a copy of my order confirmation screen which has the ebates box at the top)

I always use coupon codes at JCPenney and NEVER have gotten my ebates from them and now I know why! Thanks theloo! I even e-mailed ebates about it this last time and they said I must not have gone thru them and I told them I was positive I did this time!! The ebates banner always disappears partway thru the transaction tho, I noticed. They said even if the banner disappears, if I started out thru ebates, it should still work. JCPenney had no record of it so I didn't get my $3 tho!

Now I know I guess!
