| I lost too...and I realize how important the idea of the support group is right now! I had a chunk of rebates that according th their website (as of last week) were scheduled to be mailed out in end of May. Unfortunately I didn't print those pages saying "you'll receive your check in..." I wonder if those who kept detailed printouts of pages from their website, especially their terms and policies could post what pages they have under a Cyberrebate Claim Resources thread here, so we could ask each other for help, while preparing letters to the Attorney General, etc. ? I figure to fight the wrongs, we'll need to have paper/photocopied proof of the "promises" that Cyberrebate was making all this while. If any of you have legal degrees or paralegal experience, would you mind posting in this thread? Or sending me a private message thru the blue "pm" tab below? Specifically, I wonder: purchases I make sitting at my computer...are they equivalent to purchases made within 5o miles from home? Secondly, any fellow sufferers from iowa here? Any insights on Iowa laws that apply to this kind of scam? Thanks

| Informative Article on CNET Here's a good article on the Cyberrebate bankruptcy on CNET. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] Among the most important quotes from the article is this one about American Express: "A spokeswoman for American Express, Judy Tenzer, said in an interview that the giant credit card company "will take on the responsibility and make sure our customers are not liable" in cases of bankruptcy like CyberRebate's. " That's great news for Amex customers! Let's hope other companies follow suit. I think the credit card route is our best chance of getting any money back. Bankruptcy proceedings take forever and if they don't have the money, they're not going to give it to us. It's probably worth it to contest older charges on your credit card, ie the ones that are technically too old to contest. It probably can't hurt to do it in writing now to protect yourself later. American Express was an advertiser on their site. The article also mentions a large Cyberrebate customer getting a FedEx from the Bankruptcy lawyers. Did anyone else get that? | Thanks for the links, Ithaca. That digital mass article certainly is interesting.... I have charges on three separate credit cards, and here are the results I've gotten from calling to dispute charges: AmEx: they took my info over the phone and put my charge from April in dispute. I was told it would be resolved by July. (Let's keep out fingers crossed that Judy Tenzer wasn't just giving us a load of BS). MyPoints NextCard Mastercard: they were fully aware of the CyberRebate situation, and told me that they had no idea how it would eventually be resolved. The CS rep I spoke to was very nice and said he would mail the necessary claim forms out right away. (Interesting note: I did most of my CR shopping through MyPoints promotions and links, so I wonder if they will feel any additional burden to support customers here). Discover: they were no help at all. The specialist I was forwarded to was very rude, and told me that they were not accepting any dispute claims for CR charges, and that any claims had to go through the bankruptcy court. (I am not too concerned, since my only CR charge on Discover was $9.00. But I feel bad for other Discover cardholders). |

| I lost big bucks too. Originally I did not think Creditcard company would do anything for us since we did make the purchases. However, I was encourged by other posts on DOD and did make it a try yesterday. I got positive responses from my two credit card companies. US Bank CR told me, after he consulted his supervisor that I need not to worry the huge charge to my US Bank visa last month as long as I filed the duspute. It would take them no more than a month to investigate how to resolve the problem. I called my other creditcard, MyPoints MasterCard, and was told I can dispute further back to 60 days and I can get dispute froms online. I did and send all my disputes out today. So, for everyone who might on the same boat, file your disputes ASAP. To, didg, Don't wait for them to send the dispute forms. Go online to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] and logon, go to the customer servoce link, then you can print the dispute, transacation by transaction. After filling them out, mail your forms! That will be much faster!! Hope the best will turn out for all of us! |

| Oh, yeah I ment to tell you all about a similar experience that I had a few years ago. We live around the Branson, Mo area and one year I got my inlaws show tickets to see Charlie Pride. Well, they hung onto them for 6 or 7 months. Then when they went to use them, the show(or at least the theatre)had went bankrupt. I called the credit card company, since I didn't have a phone number or anyway to get hold of anyone. I don't remember what cc company I used, but they were very helpful and gave me my money back. They said that they didn't normally do that after such a long period of time and they also told me that they might come back later to be reimbursed. But I never heard from them again, so that was basically the same situation and it worked out great. Believe it or not, I just found the paper work on that transaction and we bought the tickets in November of 1997 and I contacted them in August of 1998. It took several months and I had to mail everything I had, but things turned out OK. Anyway, lets hope this mess turns out the same. |

| More detail on my talk to NextCard CS, Brendabut. Based on my second call to them last night, they need to received the dispute forms and customers' signatures in order to initiate further investigation on cumtomers behalf. I assume that we all know how to access our statement online since we are all reading DOD at this points. Nextcard do have dispute forms online in the customer service area. Actually it's a quite nice and easy form to fill out. Instead of waiting for their forms to come in the mail and send them back afterward. I think it's better to do it online right now. Time might be a issue in terms of how far back you can dispute charges. I can only dispute my current one and two previous ones. If your billing closing date is about to come, I would urge anyone to do it online right now to save us time. Hope this hleps! |

| Thanks OK, I may go ahead and send mine in too. I have two from January and guess they won't do anything about those, but think I will send them anyway. Did you check the "Other" box and then attach a letter telling what has taken place? |
| |||
| On cc charge dispute form... I guess so, Brenda. I first called the cc CS and, even when they warned that some charges were more than beyond the 60 days limit, I still sent in letters, and checked the "Other" box for reason for disputing. Quote:

| Great! I'm glad somebody started a thread where we can help each other. I was tired of reading a lot of mean posts on this and other boards where people just want to be rude and others whose opinions are getting deleted for no good reason. Thanks!! Anyway, here are some cached files from Google of the old CyberRebate site which may be useful in any disputes. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]
