I have been using PayPal for sooooo long and never had a security problem. Yesterday, I received an email from PayPal as a receipt for my recent purchase.... 15 receipts. Someone from a company called iPower, inc. has charged $36.95 to my bank account 15 times. Do the math... almost $500. Right now it is under investigation for fraud, but I had to freeze my bank account. I guess I am just one of the "unlucky" ones. |

Did you ever buy from there before? Or did someone know your log-in info? Omg that is scary. Wow hope PayPal fixes it for you. Keep us updated.

| Re: PayPal.... Beware!!!
As of this point, my bank account is $1006 overdrawn thanks to the fraudulent withdrawals and over draft fees. PayPal has the purchases under investigation for fraud. My bank, thank goodness has recognized it as fraud and is reversing all charges as well as performing thier own investigation. I have been using PayPal for years and have never had this problem. As of this point all my information is being deleted and I am closing my PayPal account. It just goes to show that no matter how secure a site claims to be, there is always a possibility of a break in. |

My Advise is to never click on an email from someone who asks you to update your personal information. I received a suspicious looking email from someone claiming to be paypal this past week. They wanted me to click on the site they gave in the email and update my personal information. I did not do this but instead I went to the paypal site, I normally click on and I called the paypal company directly. They told me to forward this email to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]. This is the response I received. Thanks for forwarding that suspicious-looking email. You're right - it was a phishing attempt, and we're working on stopping the fraud. By reporting the problem, you've made a difference! Identity thieves try to trick you into revealing your password or other personal information through phishing emails and fake websites. To learn more about online safety, click "Security Center" on any PayPal webpage. Every email counts. When you forward suspicious-looking emails to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now], you help keep yourself and others safe from identity theft. Your account security is very important to us, so we appreciate your extra effort. Thanks, PayPal |

Good Lord, this was the last thing I needed to read. I hope that you got all your monies back from your bank (since it's FDIC insured, you should not have any problems). As far as paypal, I always thought it took them 30 plus days to investigate matters of this nature? |
