I just wanted to flame the Sports Authority after a recent bad experience. I purchased two cheap golf putters and a baseball doughnut for $27.95 I used and $10 off $25 coupon found here on DealofDay.com to counter their rather high shipping charges ($8.99). I guess the way the coupon works is that the $10 is applied to the most expensive item in your cart (to one of the putters which was $9.9

. What happened was they ran out of stock of that peticular putter that had the coupon applied to it. They went ahead and shipped the order without contacting me about the cancelled item. So I was charged full price and shipping for the two remaining items and the cancelled putter essentially went poof. I called customer service and offered to take a similar putter or have the price of the remaining order knocked 40% off (equivalent of $10 off $25), but they rejected both and offered a $10 off $25 coupon on a future order. Oh thanks. I never would have placed the original order without the coupon due to the outrageous shipping costs. I had no intention of purchasing sports equipment in the near future. I was screwed on both fronts. I asked if they could turn around the order in shipping and cancel it. They, of course, couldn't because they use USPS instead of UPS. My only option is to "return to sender" the order which is bad for both them and myself. I intend to never purchase anything from them again.
