Tired of the popup ads on this forum

Is there a way to stop the popup ads on this forum? They keep popping up and I don't see an option on them to stop them. Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move it.

What happens is this: when I start to click off the DealofDay page, a popup opens up and says something about me leaving. Its very annoying, and I'm not going to click on the stupid ad.

Re: Tired of the popup ads on this forum

The only one that comes up for me is the Netflix, still annoying though. I had to edit this because I experienced more than usual number of pop-ups. What's up? Usually the only one that does is the Netflix, but today others have.

Stop! Do you make these mistakes with your web business?

This is the pop up that I have been getting ~~ it seems to just have started a few weeks ago, I didn't change any of my settings though.

It is very annoying...anyone else having these issues, or is it just the computer settings?

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

I believe it's a new ad they've added to the site. As far as myself and the other MODs can tell, there is no way to block them. But we all agree, they are VERY annoying.

We figured out where they were coming from and I THINK they are gone! Let me know if they still appear.

Thanks,

Mayor

Re: Tired of the popup ads on this forum

i NEVER get popups, even from those dangerous sites, what i do is cookie prompting, if any site wants to put a cookie on my computer that either appears to have nothing to do with the site im visiting ([Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]) or anything with the word ad in it, then most likley its for ads, and i block em, but stuff that looks useful, like something that has the site's address and login somewhare in it, most likly has something to do with keeping you loged into the site your at. its sorta complicated, but since ive been doing this, i havent had popups since 2005. when i do get them, very VERY rarley, i run xoftspy (they changed their name) and root out those annoying cookies, and at the same time, add them to my block list. while im at it, i notice 1-2 viruses, to none every couple of months, a lot less then when i had my computer automatically accept them. firefox allows me to allow the cookie on my computer for a session, so when i dont know if the cookie is really needed, then i could click allow for session, and when i close the window, the cookies are deleted.
If i accidently block a cookie, and for some reason it wont let me log into a site or something like that, then theres this little icon next to the planet icon at the bottom of internet explorer that has an eye and a not allowed symbol, double click on that to open up the blocked cookies, find the one that you thing is stoping you from loging in, and it will have 3 option boxes (more like bubbles), chosing always allow will obviously allow the cookie into your computer. sorta complicated, if you want me to write up a full guide, send me a request at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now], ill be sure to make it easy to understand

Re: Tired of the popup ads on this forum

I honestly have not seen that many pop up ads. But I am running a pop up blocker. Not sure if that is having an effect, because on a couple other forums, I see pop up ads much more often.
