I recently got an online coupon for $10.00 off a $40.00 order for Barnes and Noble and decided I would order some books for my grand children. They had oodles of books listed for $1.00 a piece. I figured my 12 year old granddaughter would enjoy reading them and when she was finished we could put them up for her 5 year old cousin for when he learns to read. I ended up with approximately $54.00 worth of books which was reduced to $44.00 with the $10.00 coupon. There was a listed 4 dollar and something postage fee so I figured my bill would be around $50.00. I got the books with the invoice and it was over $85.00. They charged me 99 cents per book handling charge. The part that upset me the most was that most of the books were from Dover publishing company, and I could have gotten the whole works for under $5.00 shipping and handling. I did write to Barnes and Noble two times with no satisfaction so I made them a promise that I would tell everyone who would listen to me about their business practices.

Have you tried filing a complaint with planetfeedback.com or ugetheard.com? I have had good luck with both of these complaint sites. Also, don't give up....99 cents for each children's book is ludicrous. However, many other sites do the same thing so you have to really watch what you're doing and always check shipping/handling charges BEFORE finalizing your order.

OMG I cant beleive they did that. That is one of the things I dont like about half.com if you order a bunch of stuff, cuz you have to pay shipping for EACH item not per order. lol. Donna

| I've ordered from BN.com many times...
I thought the shipping fees were clear. The site also tells you exactly how much your order will be *including shipping* before you complete placing your order. I'm sorry you're upset, but you shouldn't have placed the order if you didn't like the shipping fee. Ulrike |

don't mess with the company if you used a credit card just call up your company and tell them you were charged incorrectly, they will promptly credit your card the correct amount you are due while they do some investing... if you have print out of confirmations from bn.com that will be very helpful... especially print outs mentioning that $4 shipping charge you said.... (although bn.com does charge a flat $3 or $4 something rate but than an additional .99 per book......) i have a citibank visa and although only once an internet site screwed my over, citibank was prompt, friendly, understanding and immeadiately resolved the problem. so much for [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now], never order from them, lesson learned, they said they credited my CC but they never did, thank god citibank did good luck!!!! |

Capital One is good about that too. They have those cyberized cards now. And even if you already have an account with them, just register on their website for being able to access your account online and it will be cyberized automatically for free. I did that with both my accounts. I even got a surprise and found out the other day that one of them has a 0% interest right now. YEAHHHH lol. Donna
