Buy.com and Google Checkout -- GRRRR!

Does anyone know how to get the $10 for using Google checkout the first time??? I am so ticked at them both that I could scream!

I have been trying to get a Bluetooth headset from Buy.com and they still have it listed on their website that you can get $10 for first time users of Google checkout, although a search on Google says that is has been discontinued. It is also listed as still available at several referral sites when I search for "Buy.com deals".

Anyway, I get to the check out, click on "Google Checkout" and enter my info and click then a red "Click here to continue" comes up and it gets stuck there. No matter how many times I click on it, nothing happens. I finally do a refresh and my cart comes up but there is NO $10 discount with it! Yet when I go into my account on Google, all the information that I have entered is there. I have deleted all my info from Google and tried again and the same things happens.

I have emailed both buy.com and Google about this, but can't get an answer from either of them. I would get the stupid thing from Amazon, except that they upped the price on theirs by $8 in the last week, yet I think the buy.com order is actually fulfilled by Amazon and they have it for the old price of 41.99.

In reference to your topic up top, I don't believe google is doing the $10 promotion anymore, and I do believe it has to be your first time signing up with and using google checkout.

Thanks, but I have already picked out the ones that I want.

I know the Google site says it was done, but the buy.com site still had it as being available and they are supposedly a prime site for Google checkout (or whatever they are called). I am getting SO annoyed by having to deal with incompetent retailers and companies that I could scream!!! It seems as though I spent part of each and every day having to phone somebody to get them to make something right or trying to get correct information from them! It just seems as though NO one anymore cares about the customer. It eats up my time and raises my blood pressure and frustrates me all to HE&%. And it's not only the online ones, it's the local ones as well! People complain about WalMart, but frankly they are about the only store that I have never had a problem with!!

I had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM when buying a security program from buy.com the $10 google check out offer was all over the place. I tried 4 times and finally just checked out normally without the google reward. Trying to check out with google it coming up with my email address was bad. I have no idea if it was just a way to get a new customer data list or a true chink in their system. I won't ever bother trying again!

I have had no problem at all with using the Google checkout with Amazon.com and would use it again if I could. My wife also used it without any problems.

So, as of 1-13-08, it's still a flaw in the 'Buy.com' way of doing first-time Google Checkouts. I saved the 'how to' and there's no way to 'make sure you got the $10 discount' as the Google Checkout describes...and worse yet...at the very end there's what *appears* to be a $10 'discount' on your next purchase which is actually a scam from: (geeze, I forget the name) That I've said 'yes' to before and found that *it* charges you $9 or more dollars on your credit card (just given) each and every month until you tell your credit card company you've been had! It's such a famous scam that there's a class action suit against them. Thanks NOT, buy.com...they screwed me once before with a very flakey memory stick that nearly ruined my computer. Now this: a NON-discount of $10 and a totally rotten 'deal' at the end that isn't Google or even them. I think it's called 'Reservation Rewards'...avoid it like the plague and watch your statements if you're duped into clicking *that* after NOT seeing the $10 discount on your final page when you've ordered via Google Checkout. It's bad!! I too just went ahead and ordered the item. Hope it doesn't mess me up too badly, eh?
