Metrostyle.com, BEWARE!

I just want to warn everyone about www.metrostyle.com. About a month ago I had placed an order for 3 watch sets, which were on clearance for $4.99 each. A few days after I placed my order, I was sent an email stating my items were on backorder and that my credit card would not be charged until my items were shipped. So you can imagine my surprise when 1 day after receiving that email, I received 3 packages at my door from MetroStyle delivered by UPS. I was a little confused, because these were 3 rather large and heavy packages and clearly not the watches I ordered. I opened the first package to find I had been shipped a coffee maker! I opened the other 2 boxes and they were also coffee makers. Mind you, this website sells women's clothing, shoes and accessories. Not homegoods! Then come to find out, my credit card had been charged for these coffee makers! I promptly called MetroStyle and was told that the warehouse had substituted the coffee makers for my watch sets, since the watches were no longer available. I was told I would have to return the coffee makers in order to get my money back if I did not want them.

#1. What kind of company just substitutes an item when something a customer orders is no longer available, without consulting them first?

#2. Why in the world would they take it upon themselves to substitute 3 coffee makers for watch sets? That's like substituting apples for oranges. It makes no sense.

I'd also like to point out that the watch sets I ordered are still for sale on their website, 1 month later, for a higher price and under a different item number. I'm guessing they just did not want to sell them for the low price I had purchased them at due to an error in the listing price. When I brought this up with the customer service manager, I was just told that they would look into why the item was still listed on the site with their Internet Department.

So in the end, I spent my time and energy packaging up these 3 coffee makers and taking them to a UPS drop off location for NOTHING! They didn't even offer me a discount coupon good for my next order. NOTHING!

So please BEWARE when ordering from metrostyle.com!!!

My mom has had issues with them charging her metrostyle cc. She is very upset. They charge late fees on EVERY check she mails, she mailed one nearly a month before it was due, and they HELD the check until it was a late payment. They do rip people off. BEWARE!!!!!!!!
