| DON'T SHOP AT BEST BUY: FALSE ADVERTISEMENT You guys have got to hand it to Best Buy. About three weeks ago I walked into Best Buy when they had their sale on the Stargate SG-1 DVD sets and I also had walked in with a Circuit City ad, which is right across the street from their store. Anyways, their ad states that they will match any competitors advertised price and that's all it states. Well, I went in, initending on spending $200 on DVD's. Bear in mind that their employees know me as a regular customer as I'm in there twice each week and I have been buying DVD's in their store for the past several years. I spend, on average, around $1800 per year on entertainment at their store. Anyways, I'm informed by their employees that as long as they do not have the item in stock that they don't have to honor the advertised price. It does not state this anywhere in their circular advertisement inserted in the newspapers. Let's just say, that I ended up leaving the DVD's on the counter in their checklanes and walked out of the store. I had a very long talk with one their of their Security associates, their Assetts Team Members, and he informed me that the ad is worded that way to get you into their store. For me, I ended up walking over to Circuit City and purchasing the same DVD's from their store since they did have them in stock.

| Re: DON'T SHOP AT BEST BUY: FALSE ADVERTISEMENT they did nothing wrong. how are they supposed to give you something when they do not have it in stock. why not bring the ad back when they do have it in stock? also, about what their assets person said, that is the goal of every company--to advertise in such a way that attracts customers to their store. it's not a crime. and they did not lie. if they would have had the item in stock you would have gotten it. i'm sure they can afford to lose your $1800 too. thats probably the equivalent of $18.00 to them. you win some you lose some. |
