Found this in my mailbox: " From: Imagine Media Circulation Depart <IM_Staff@circulation.imaginemedia.com> Subject: Did you receive a magazine you didn't request from Imagine Media, Inc.?? Date: Thu, 21 Dec 2000 16:54:30 -0500 (EST) Dear Potential Reader: We work with various companies and web sites in order to identify new subscribers. Unfortunately, due to certain unauthorized actions and errors by some of these companies, we received information which indicated that you had elected to receive one or more of the magazines listed below, only to discover that a great deal of this information was incorrect. It appears that many individuals who had interacted with one or more of these web sites were automatically listed as having requested a free trial subscription. Although some of the free issues have already been mailed, and in certain instances invoices sent out, we are immediately taking the steps needed to stop all further mailings. However, because we are unable, due to the errors involved, to confirm that every request was improper, we are cancelling all of the requests received from these sources. We recognize that the actions we are taking to correct this situation may result in the cancellation of requests that were valid. Accordingly, if you are an individual who requested a trial subscription, but have not yet received anything, please e-mail our Customer Service Staff at mailto:kgifford@imaginemedia.com or mailto:dnelson@imaginemedia.com, and we will gladly reinstate or confirm the subscription(s) in question upon request. We hope that you have not been inconvenienced or confused on account of our processing these erroneous subscription requests, and ask that you accept our sincere apologies with respect to this matter. The magazines involved are: (1) Business 2.0, (2) MacAddict, (3) Maximum PC, (4) Official Sega Dreamcast Magazine, (5) PlayStation Magazine, (6) Revolution, (7) TotalMovie, and ( T3.Please note that this notice is being sent as a courtesy, so as to inform you of the situation. You do not need to take any actions in order to stop the erroneous subscriptions you may have already received. If, however, you continue to receive magazines which you did not request (or related invoices), please take a moment to call us at the customer service number noted above so that we may investigate your situation and take the appropriate corrective actions. Once again, we are very sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced on account of these errors and wish to thank you in advance for working with us to straighten this situation out..
