I just checked my account and found a zero balance. I was charged $3 after first 90 days of inactivity, then 30 days later, they charged the remaining amount in my account because I didn't have enough for the $3 fee. ![]() So I just want to tell everyone to use your Webcertificate at least once every 90 days. "Account Dormancy Fee"(Your Webcertificate has been inactive for at least 90 days. According to Webcertificate.com’s Disclosures and Fees, all Webcertificate Accounts are assessed a $3.00 monthly fee after 90 days of inactivity. Please review our Disclosures and Fees for complete details.)

I never have liked webcert all that much. BUT! They do have a sister program called " ecount " that I adore. They give you a mastercard number that you can use online and off. Any money that goes into your account you can spend ANWYWHERE that takes MC. They only charge $1 each time that YOU add money to your account, but they do not charge to spend the money, send money or for anyone else to send you money. And it's so instant! You can put the money in while you have another window open shopping, after you find out what the total will be. Anyway it's 10 times better in my opinion. |

$3.00 dormancy fees? I only had $15 in my account. How can they do this? I will refuse to use a service that steals from its customers in this manner. When did they change this policy? I received no email about this. I was also charged $3.00 for some web cert application! What is that? Customer Service just got a nasty email from me. What happens when the balance reaches $0.00? Will I start owing them money?! |

This fee is not new at all. I think it is a fair fee because why should they keep your account for free. Merchants pay them when you use the account and if you don't use it then they don't get paid. This makes the inactivity fee logical and fair. I think it was in effect late last fall. Since I use my WC every few weeks or so, I've never had a problem at all. I can't imagine not useing it for 3 whole months. I add funds to it from variouse point earning sites like Mypoints and the plastic WC allows me to use it off-line at all kinds of stores. Much nicer than a paper GC for any specific store. For example I spend $10 of my WC last week at my local B&M K-mart. My mother and my adult son have WC's and they have been using them at Spiegels and CVS. |

I won a Webcertificate in January and haven't used it yet. Out of curiosity after reading this post, I checked my account and my account has not been charged the $3 fee, which makes sense, since after checking their website, it states the account is charged a dormancy fee after 6 months, not 3. From their site: "...*Account Dormancy Fee: A fee will be applied to Inactive** accounts after the 6 month anniversary date. The charge will be concurring each month unless the account becomes active or the balance of the account is $0.00. Inactive**- An account which meets the following criteria: 1. It's been 6 months since the last Webcertificate was claimed to the account. 2. There have not been funds added to your Webcertificate Account in last 90 days. 3. There has not been a purchase made with your Webcertificate in last 90 days." I was not notified of the dormancy policy, so it may have already been in place when my account was created in January. Glad I found out...got to spend that money soon!
