Re: Mypoints froze me? - you and hundreds of others!!!!

Three people in my family and 2 of my friends have all been frozen out this past two months.

I had over 100,000 points accumulated (280,000 with family and friends) and they froze us out when their "backpack" contest started, and when two of us tried to redeem.

We've been sending emails ever since and they just keep quoting it's their choice to cancel anyone they like. What a scam! Now searching on this problem, I've come across hundreds!! of people who've had their accounts frozen this past two months.

I have reason to believe they've sold their email list as we used only specific emails for mypoints and now we're getting over 100 spam mails a day. Strange how their the only company we gave that email to and now we're having problems. Is anyone else having a spam problem?

I'm so choked they can get a way with this. It's such poor business practice, lousy customer service.

It's Fraud! It's criminal!

If you're not frozen yet. Redeem your points and get out while you can. Chances are they will freeze you when you go to redeem.

Contacted BBB no resolution or further contact. Strangely no working phone numbers for mypoints or their senior employees!

Re: Mypoints froze me?

How can you tell if you are frozen out? Will it say so? I have not gotten ANY mypoints email since the stupid backpack thing and when I email them they just say I have a filter set which I do not.

mypoints.com Is it just me?

There point redemption seems to have increased (at least to me I haven't cashed in in a while) And the merchant list has gotten smaller. I was hoping to pick up GC for Christmas, Two I noticed gone are toysrus and Tower Records or Sam Goody I forget which I bought there.

Don't look for it to be fixed, dustsky. My husband and I started having problems receiving MyPoints email through Comcast at the beginning of this year. It was "fixed" for about a month, then blocked again. Best advice is change your email address. We both did months ago and haven't had one single problem since.

Comcast is a major problem with MyPoints AND Memolink. I don't doubt there are more programs that have problems with Comcast. All people have to do is report MyPoints emails as spam and it's not long before Comcast starts blocking.

I also don't doubt that Comcast is the only ISP that has gotten this strict. How can MyPoints send a member emails if their ISP has blacklisted them? I certainly never reported MyPoints emails as spam, but Comcast was blocking them for me anyways, whether I liked it or not. How in the world can that be translated into Mypoints stops sending members emails just to delete inactive accounts? If anything, I'd blame Comcast on that one.

And yes, I HAVE spoken to someone in the abuse department at Comcast. (Took me just about sacrificing an arm and a leg, but I finally got a live person.) Even the supervisor in the abuse dept. said these issues can be a pain in the rear for all involved, but they have to follow the rules issued by Comcast. MyPoints or any other program can get blacklisted one day, unblacklisted the next and turn right around and get blacklisted AGAIN.

I'm sorry, but it really bugs me when people start accusing without doing research. I've spoken on the phone quite a bit with both Comcast on the blacklist issue and MyPoints regarding these account freezings. I told them I was concerned because my husband and I both have accounts and wondered if we were in any danger of having problems.

I've heard of people getting their accounts frozen over the years - I've been a member since 2001. With the exception of this board, all instances worked out where the accounts were opened again. I don't doubt at all that some folks are having problems, but I hardly think that if MyPoints had the attitude of "They are hoping you will forget all about them" and close your account, they wouldn't have been around as long as they have. Companies with that attutide don't make it very far.

I hate to say it, but I think there's more than meets the eye here. The conversations I've had with Member Services and the Abuse department at Comcast tells me that much. I know people are angry, but why not spend some time doing some research instead of making grand statements that no one would ever be able to prove?

I don't know. I guess I'm more of a "doer". The more information you go after, the more you learn.

Angry Re: Mypoints froze me?

Hi,

I, and several family members as well, have had our accounts with MyPoints frozen lately. We are all actual individuals with our own email addresses and have all had our accounts for 8 or 9 years. None of us use it much, but we'll catch a deal now and again and each of us normally redeems enough points for a small gc every year or so.
It's not only VERY annoying that they seem bent on possibly attempting to cheat their most loyal customers. It's also annoying to have to spend the time to beg their cs to reactivate the accounts. For goodness sakes, times are tough and it takes almost every minute just to fight traffic, work, survive, raise a family and, if you're lucky, have a bit of time for yourself.
In my opinion this company should be ashamed of itself.

Re: Mypoints froze me?

from the sounds of some of the ppl listed above, they have multiple accounts listed to one address, which is not allowed. I know this is an old post, but I think it's relevant still. If you find that your account has been frozen out, make sure no one in your house is using the site, as well. If they find out that you have more than one active user at a single address, they WILL suspend/cancel your account, as detailed in their terms of service.

I have been a member for years - since 1999 and have never had a single problem with them! i've earned hundreds of dollars of rewards!

Re: Mypoints froze me?

I know it's been almost two years since my last post on here, but I figured I'd leave a follow-up message for anyone else that comes across these problems with MyPoints. I was never able to get back the points or the screen for my MyPoints account so I created a new account using a new e-mail address and (with permission) someone else's mailing address. The only thing I started doing differently was watching my points closely and cashing them in as soon as I had enough to do so. Almost two years now without a problem. I think my theory was correct about MyPoints picking on the people that have gathered huge amounts of points. Good luck to all that use their service... Play it smart!

Angry Re: Mypoints froze me?

Damit, got to 10,000 again and I'm frozen out once more.

Well that's the third time in 2 years. These guys are criminal. They say there is no registered account.

I've decided to BAN any supplier/company that is part of their service. I'm also writing to as many of them as possible and letting them know about the Mypoint practice of freezing and deleting accounts.

Every one should do the same.

Re: Mypoints froze me?

This is the first time I hear about this problem. I've used Mypoints for a long time and was convinced they are a decent site. I can't believe they would do something so low.
