If changing avoid priceline.com
I bought a ticket at priceline.com to Costa Rica for about $435 US on Delta Airlines. I put in a lower bid than the $435, but priceline came back and said I would win it for the $435 price. [BTW, in the past, if I didn't win my bid, priceline would tell me that I had to pick a new time or date, and would never give me a chance to rebid on the same schedule!] Since it was a little cheaper than going to Delta directly, decided to go with it. Later, I went to cheaptickets.com just for comparison, and could have gotten it for even less.
The worst part was when I wanted to come back on the next Tuesday rather than the Saturdsy currently booked. First I called Delta, and they said that since it was bought through priceline that I had to call their customer no-service department and work it out with them. I would have to buy a new one-way ticket with Delta at a cost of $609, unless I was able to work something out with priceline.com.
I have dealt with changing airline reservations in the past, and the most I've ever paid is $100. So anyway, I call priceline, and they tell me that there is NO WAY they can change the return flight because it was a non-changeable, non-refundable fare. In fact I called them back 3 times and talked with a stupervisor and couldn't get them to budge on letting me pay the extra $100 for changing my flight.
So the long and short of it is I'm NEVER BUYING FROM PRICELINE.COM AGAIN. I've been told that orbitz.com has cheap fares PLUS allows for changing.
STAY AWAY FROM PRICELINE.COM! I didn't think that I'd need to change my return flight, but stuff happens! AVOID EVER DOING BUSINESS WITH PRICELINE.COM. I certainly regret ever doing business with them. I hope you will avoid similar heartache by NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH PRICELINE.COM.
