I'm sure that everyone is aware of these things, but sometimes we get caught up in great deals, or we are new to internet shopping...so I thought I would just share some things I've learned from my experience in shopping online.
1) If you're shopping with an online business you're not familiar with, make sure to phone them to make sure they're still in business and that their numbers work. The last thing you want to do is try to call a business after they've charged your card only to find out their phones are disconnected.
2) Utilize reviews of online shopping websites-for instance, you could check out [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] to see if anyone else has had a bad experience with the company.
3) Read the fine print. We have all gotten some great deals, and been screwed by some too. Whether you are buying something, or putting money in a bank account to get a bonus...make sure that you understand rules and hidden fees!
3) If a product is on backorder and you want it anyway, make sure that the business will not charge your card in the meantime. Most reputable businesses will ONLY charge your card when the product comes in and ships out. If they charge your card anyway, and you know the product is on backorder...call the company, and then call your credit card provider and start the dispute process. If you wait a couple of months to do this-it will be too late.

I agree about the backorder/charging credit card before shipping that you talked about..People should be aware that most (if not all) credit cards have a time limit on which you can disute the charges. Most are only 60 days so if an item has been charged to your credit card and the backorder looks to be creeping up on whatever time limit your particular card his...watch this carefully
