are credit cards safe to use online

How safe is it to give out your credit card number to order online, has anyone had problems.

The only places I feel are not safe for Credit cards are XXX web sites. If you stay away, I see no problem with using your card for shopping, as long as it is a secured site. My advice is to have a low limit card like $200 so that if ever there was a problem, there would not be a lot that someone can charge. A $200 balance is also fairly easy to pay off if you need to.

If you really feel uneasy, some sites -like BN have it where you place your order and then you call in your CC info. I have done that to send gifts under my husbands name with my credit card.

IMHO, using your credit card online is -safer- than in a store. How many times in a store does the cashier simply drop the carbon copy into a trash bin? My brother used his debit card to pay for coffee at Denny's, and over the course of a week someone racked up almost $100 on it! It's a real mess trying to straighten out too.
