It always helps if you decide going into a complaint call what it is you want to get out of it. I think you'd need to either
(a)get them to give you a GC code for the difference or (b)let you order another item. So start by planning what other item you might want, if you can do that easily/quickly. That way you can have a ready answer and be done.
Call them again. Always call, as people are less likely to be rude to you in person. Be sure to have your order #, the new item, etc handy. CS people don't want to work any harder than they HAVE to.
Explain that you used a GC, that you no longer want the backordered item since it is taking so long, and that you'd like either a new GC or to order something else (change your order).
If you know what you want, have all the facts, take a non-nonsense approach, and call in person, then you'll get a better response.
