Rebaters beware! Many online stores offering "free after rebate" deals use a
company called TCA rebates to process the rebate claims on these items.I personally found this with FreeAfterRebate.com and TigerDirect.com. I have had over $100 of rebates denied incorrectly. After waiting the stated 10-12 weeks (!) with no rebates arriving I started researching. After hours on the phone, numerous emails, massive aggravation with reps who don't know what the problem is, and over $20 in long distance phone charges (no toll free number), I finally got all but about $25 approved. However, they hold the check for 3 months after approval. Even though I had already waited 3+ months, I still had to wait 3 more months for my check!
BOTTOM LINE: Before you buy a free after rebate item, find out what company is used to process the rebate. If it is TCA rebates, be sure you want the item enough to warrant the
hassles you are sure to endure to get your rebate. |
