Thumbs down overstock.com - not recommended

[size=7][color=DarkRed][font=Lucida Console]

Folks,

Neither I do have good experience with overstock.com. I ordered a wireless headphone and to my surprise it stopped working. I called the manufacturer and asked for a replacement and the shock news I heard was "we wont replace products purchased from overstock coz overstock.com is a refurbished seller"

I called overstock.com and told my experience. Despite me telling and arguing for more than 1 hour, no result!

Keep away from overstock

I have never had an issue with anything I have bought from overstock.com and have been happy with all the items I have bought from them.

I bought a bread machine once. It arrived cracked, full of crumbs, and didn't work.
Luckily, I was able to return it and receive a full credit. I haven't bought from them again.

Ordered a blanket from there and although it's not as nice or heavy as it looked on their site, it's okay. I try not to buy from there as there stuff looks cheap and crappy. I also think they are not truthful when it comes to reviews. You hardly see anything bad written on anything they sell. I was shopping for a dual alarm clock there and noticed A LOT of them were refurbished, and I have NEVER had any luck with something refurbished.

"Cheap and crappy" sums up my one and only buying experience with them.

Re: overstock.com - not recommended

I have purchased many things from them and I have nothing but good things to say about Overstock.com. Their price on an exact pair of rollerblades I wanted was about $50.00 cheaper (even using Ebates/coupons etc. at other stores) than anywhere else on the net. I purchased their down comforter four years ago for $29.99 and I liked it so much a bought the same comforter this past year. I buy "refurbs" all the time and I do not mind as long as I know that they are refurbs. I have shopped at some great stores online and sometimes I just get unlucky and get shorted (damaged goods, poor customer service, charged too much) So, I understand how you feel.

Lightbulb Try This

I also had a bad experience with Overstock. The item was a clarinet, and was not supposed to be refurbished. The music teacher said that the instrument was in the worst shape she had ever seen.

Anyways, I had nothing but trouble returning it. And my account was not credited properly.

After several calls to their USELESS customer service, I went to the planetfeedback website and wrote a letter, that I also shared for the public to see.

Within a few weeks, I had communication going with overstock and got the problem completely resolved, even to my benefit.

Please utilize this website if you encounter problems with any business, it really gets results.

Re: Try This

I've only ordered from them once--a few weeks ago. I had no problems, but reading this post makes me feel fortunate and unlikely to order from them again.

Re: overstock.com - not recommended

I have had nothing but the best of luck with them. Microwave for $100 less than Amazon and still working after 2 years which is better than my last non-refurb. Vacuum cleaner great! Ordered about 40 of the $1 DVDs for Christmas gifts and toy drive donations. They arrived quickly and in better condition than the same titles at my local Borders and for $14 less per title. I love them and look there first!

Re: overstock.com - not recommended

I've had problems with Overstock as well. This was the first time I had ordered from them, last Christmas when I ordered a microwave. It didn't show, they put a tracer on it, but then said that the delivery man said he delivered it to our address, well,it wasn't at our house, we checked everywhere, both porches. Finally they sent us another microwave, and it was supposedly a new one. It broke within 3 months. We don't handle our appliances in such a way as to break them. I E-mailed them to tell them about this, to tell them I didn't think they should carry this product again, no reply at all from them. My advice to you, stay as far away as possible from Overstock, they are just not worth the hassle. There are way too many other companies out there that will go out of their way for your business.

Would that vacuum happen to be a hoover windtunnel? I've thought about ordering one, their prices are quite good, but their ratings on the site are self-serving and I'm a bit hestitant.

Re: overstock.com - not recommended

Mostly I've had great experiences. Got a Eureka mini Mite vacuum that's FANTASTIC and was so inexpensive. 2 Tiffany lamps were GREAT--I saw the same lamp at a store in town for twice as much.

One problem I had was sheets that were wrinkled and thin. I'll stick to buying bed linens in person so I can make sure they're thick cloth and no-iron.
