| Barnes & Noble lost me as a customer I made a large order to get a lot of my Xmas shopping done. I wanted to make one big order and to get the free shipping. One item was a calendar for my DD. I made the order on the 9th. On the 19th I get an e-mail telling me they cancelled that part of the order without saying exactly why. I call them to ask why and they can't explain why and tell me it is still saying it is in stock. They still have it available to buy even. I ask if they will still honor the free shipping and she tells me yes they will. I ask if they can't send the calendar if they will send me another one that was the same price and she says she can't see why they wouldn't.
This week I am wondering if it has been shipped yet and go into my account and see that it now says the item was cancelled per my request?!?!?! I never received an e-mail telling me I wasn't getting it after I was told the order had been put back in. I call again and am told the item is out of stock now and they have no idea if they will send another for the same price with free shipping. I had to pick up kids from school and had to get off the phone and she told me to e-mail my request. I did after I got home. I get my answer today. They do have it in stock, but very limited quantity and I will have to pay for shipping. So I call them to ask why they told me they cancelled it, then told me they don't know why they cancelled it, then said it was in and I would get it with free shipping, then change it to say I cancelled it, then say I can have it if I pay the shipping.
Sorry for the inconvenience is all they will say and will not ship it for free since they didn't actually charge my CC for the calendar. I told her to cancel my account I would be driving up the road to Borders from now on.
I have been a customer for several years and make sporadic orders and bigger ones at Xmas time. Guess my pittance isn't worth it to them and 'I'm Sorry' should make everything ok. The few dollars they would have spent to ship it was worth more than the hundreds of dollars I have spent there. Oh, well. Their loss.
I did tell her I would let others know what they pull. She didn't care. Makes me feel better though getting it off my chest. |
