I called this morning about an order I placed in January. I knew when I ordered the book that it was a special order item an it said 3-4 weeks shipping time, so I waited patiently. Well, two months have passed so I thought I'd check. The CSR was very nice, and said she would look into it and get back to me right away. yeah right, I thought. Sure enough, she emails me and lets me know that they're contacting the publisher, and she'll let me know as soon as she hears a definitive time frame. I just received the update that the publisher claims they never received the initial order, so B&N requested them to expedite it and they will ship it to me via overnight delivery because B&N is so sorry that this happened!!!!
2 emails to keep me updated all on the same day that I called in the first place! And overnight delivery to top it off!
The shipping will most certainly nullify their profit (they might even lose a dollar or two) b/c the book was only $15.90.
I'm very impressed by the CSRs handling of the situation and B&N's offer to have it overnighted. I made sure that I replied to the CSR to let her know that her level of CS made my day and that I very much appreciated her effort.
I will definitely return to B&N and will favor them over amazon now too.
