Credit Card/Bank Account Fraud...Can Somebody Help me? Amerihost Inn

Ok, the deal is that we stayed at the Amerihost Inn back in February. They charged our Visa check card for the amount 4 days later. This morning, my husband was browsing our bank account online, and they had charged us again for the same amount!!! Not only that, but we had two $26 overdraft fees, and probably more to come since I just put gas in my car last night.

I called the hotel, and was told that anybody who could help me with this was at a conference in Florida, or some hoo-hah like that. I called their corporate office and was forwarded to voicemail. I called my bank, and disputed the charges and they said they couldn't give me a provisional credit on the account until the dispute is validated-which may take 10 days!

Is there anybody with any concern that I can't buy groceries for my children now??? What should I do?

My advice, avoid Amerihost...their service is not good.

I am having a similar problem. My bank is being as helpful as they can. They have agreed to force through any outstanding checks and debits on my account in the red until the issue is cleared up. They have also agreed to squash any insufficient funds fees once this whole matter is resolved. Unfortunately I can't make any new checks or debits though which also means no grocery shopping for me...i'll have to borrow money to send the kids to school with lunch money next week.
I am lucky to have the bank that I do.
Maybe you could ask yours if they would consider doing the same...the worst that could happen to them is your issue is never cleared up and you owe your bank some money.

Thanks Teah, it makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one dealing with this. I finally got them to take off the overdraft fees, which at least put me in the black. What burns my butt is that when I called initially, they said the dispute would take 7-10 days. Bad enough, but when I finally got through to the dispute department, they said...oh no, it takes 7-10 days to GET TO US, then we have to investigate. Meanwhile, my money lies in limbo, and all the fat cats at Amerihost are whooping it up in Florida!
