A week ago, I ordered a computer part and I have since been checking AMAZON's site for progress on shipping. It hadn't yet shipped when I noticed that the price has dropped after I placed the order. I e-mailed them and was only wishing for a price match, figuring they don't have to offer such. Well, I was pleasantly surprised:

The discounts we offer for items on our web site do vary from time to
time. I've checked your order, and found that we now offer a greater
discount on "Linksys WUSB11 802.11b Wireless USB Adapter" than at the
time you placed your order.

Since this item was shipped so recently, I have requested a refund of
$6.30 to your credit card. This amount reflects the difference
between the price you were charged and the discounted price. The
refund should appear as a credit on your next billing statement.

I have rechecked their web site, and guess what? The price for that item has gone back up but I still got the refund.

I was told that if the price drops within 30 days of purchase you can get a credit for the price difference. I have done this several times already! I just keep an eye on those items I have purchased to see if they have dropped and then call right away because like you said, you don't know if the price will rise the next day.
