Walmart coupon policy question.

Today I did a price match at walmart using a kmart ad. I was buying 4 12 packs of pepsi products and matching the deal kmart had. I also had coupons to use on the pepsi products but the cashier said i couldnt do a price match and use the coupon also. I could either do the price match or i could use the coupons but not both. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I started to say something but my DH said thats alright and i could tell he didnt want to be there while i argued my case so i said okay and that i would use the coupons another time. She also cut out the picture of the pepsi sale out of the kmart ad.....whats up with that i wonder..they have never done that before. I just cant understand why they wouldnt take those coupons. Has this happened to anyone else? Its bugging me.

I've price-matched at Wal Mart before AND used coupons.

The ad that Kmart has out is an ad.. and the coupons are from the manufacturer.

People really need to start contacting WalMart corporate headquarters, via US Mail, with their complaints and problems... because we are hearing so many of them with relation to WalMart that its time those of us who are keeping their billion dollar pockets lined that we be treated fairly.

I just asked my DD - she's an assistant manager at WalMart.

She said that they're supposed to take both - an ad is an ad & coupons are coupons, just like Jeff said.

Thanks for the info ya'll. I decided to call the 800 # and told Carla the customer service rep what happened. She looked up the coupon policy and didnt see anything about not being able to use a coupon also. She also doesnt know why the cashier would cut out the picture of pepsi in the ad.....lol. She wanted the name of the cashier. I didnt know it so she had me give her the op # off the receipt. She said they were going to investigate and that i would recieve a call no later than friday to see why the store didnt take my coupons and why they cut that picture out of the ad.

UPDATE

The manager at the Walmart I had went to called me this morning and asked me to tell her what happened. I told her and she said i was right and that the cashier should have taken the coupons. She also said that the cashier didnt have to cut the ad out of the kmart ad..but that it just makes it easier on them when filling out something they have to fill out....but it was not something they were told they had to do. Anyways she told me next time i come in to bring in the coupons and they would give me the money. I then went on to tell her about other experiences i have had there using coupons. She said she was going to retrain the cashiers on coupons. I went on to tell her how humiliating and embarrassing it is when coming in to Walmart and using coupons and that i just felt like not coming there anymore and going to winn dixie instead. WHOA!! She apologized for all my bad experiences and said next time i come in that there is going to be a $10 gift card for me. So im hoping that she sticks to what she said and retrains them.

Anyways i just want to thank jsalba and Kat and her DD for the info again.

yes it happen to my ds tonite, our first trip to walmart in a month with q i allway have a problem with walmart in my town with q, so i use do my shopping where i work which is only 15 miles away.

I have had this happen as well! Certain cashiers that say they were 'trained' that they are not allowed to accept both price-matching and coupons!! I also have had cashiers AND managers tell me they cannot take an ad from a grocery store that has a 'club' card, like VonsClub, (Dominicks & GiantEagle, to name a couple on the other side of the country ) the card you have in your wallet or on your keychain that the cashier scans to get you the 'better' sale prices! (not club cards like Sam's Club or Costco.)
I cannot tell you how many times I have complained!! We have two WalMarts that are about equal distance from our house, so we use them both, plus many others in town if we happen to be near them already! And BOTH of these issues have come up at ALL stores!! A couple times I demanded a manager, and the manager actually BACKED the cashier up and would not accept both, or the price-match in some cases! But after complaining, and speaking to the TOP manager, learned that of course they were WRONG, and would be re-trained!! However, this has been happening here in town for ALMOST A YEAR, and they still haven't retrained these people??? It still happens!! Luckily, I now have spoken to so many managers, I have names, and I explain to the cashier that I have spoken to 'joe' and they say this IS allowed, and if you want you can get ahold of THAT manager right this minute, but I am NOT leaving until you accept these!!! I also printed out their price-matching policy from their website on the 'store policy' page, which has NO exclusions on certain stores! Sometimes they call over whoever is on duty, and sometimes that supervisor/manager gives a hard time, but I again explain who I spoke to, when and where, etc, and they finally give in, usually saying 'we'll go ahead and do it this time, and I'll check into it!!"
So, it IS a hassle, but they MUST accept ALL local competitors circular ads AND accept valid manufacturer's coupons as well!! So if it happens to you, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!! WalMart gets away with SO much, and I WISH I could afford to NOT shop there, because I DON'T agree with their practices, but they DO have the best prices usually, so we have to! But they cannot keep getting away with treating their customers like they do!! So, PLEASE COMPLAIN when they pull stunts like this!!!

Walmart has nice prices, but treat employees bad. They are only going to remain cheap until they drive others out of business.
