Target Pharmacy prescription problems

This has happened to our family about 3-4 times this past year. But the worst time was a few weeks ago when I phoned in to refill a blood pressure medication , stating I would pick it up the next morning.

When we arrived at Target in the mid - afternoon , the pharmacy ' helper ' told us that they were unable to fill the total and could only give me 4 pills until they got more .

They were to have the new shipment in two days. Well we paid for the entire refill amount - which should have been 30 pills - and came back in 3 days. Mind you , they had never called our home any of these times to warn us about the problem.

Upon fighting the Christmas traffic and crowds , we learned that they were having what looks to be a permanent problem filling these medications. Since this was a blood pressure med. , the pharmacist phoned the local Eckard and was told they had plenty in stock.

We then had to go to the front customer service office to obtain a refund on the payment for the full 30 pills , then go across town to Eckards.

I have heard others at the Target pharmacy saying they were there to pick up their remaining pills and I wondered if any one else has experienced this in their town ?

Really it is unsafe and not worth the occassional coupon that they may print in the paper. My son had this problem with his very common allergy medication , Allegra.

That is really too bad that happened to you. I'm sure your bp was up just trying to get the medication!

I had an instance where cvs didn't have a full rx of kytril that I got on a monthly basis for the nausea with chemo. It comes two pills to a box and they were supposed to give me 6 boxes total. It's quite an expensive drug (I think insurance reimbursed them for the 6 boxes about $750.00. They gave my hubby one box and got the rest in the next day. They did NOT charge him the first day.

Maybe you could write customer service at Target. There are plenty of pharmacies out there trying to get our business. Just look at all the coupons out there for transferred rx's. Maybe they'll give you a gift card for your troubles to keep you a happy customer.
