Hey People, look at your credit card statements. I placed order with Staples using those $15 off coupons. My email confirmaion had he discount on them, but alas they still charged my card the full amount.

I emailed them yesterday to see what can be done.

Same here.....my credit card statement showed a full charge and then a separate credit for the coupons I used.

Apparently they've charged me full price also. They say the coupons were already used. I wrote them and said that "I have not authorized you to charge my CC more than $8.52" We'll see what happens. They sent the notice out on early Saturday morning. I'm assuming that I'll hear back today.(I placed the order almost a week ago.)
Here is what my email said:
"We have received your order and have processed it for you. We were unable to apply coupon codes 87096 and 87076 to your order for the following reason:
Coupon has already been used."
****!! Update! Customer service just called me!
She said a couple of things. One is that if a customer places an order and has used a coupon more than once, the system doesn't know that at the time you place the order. But it goes to an order checker that double checks it. If the coupon was indeed previously used, they simply bill your credit card for the full amount based upon the assumption that the customer wants the items or wouldn't have ordered them in the first place.
So I said that assumption isn't necessarily correct... lots of times folks go to the grocery store and use a coupon to buy something that they wouldn't normally buy except that the coupon made is such a good deal that they go ahead and purchase anyway.
She then asked me "Will you please hold, I have someone looking into your order history?" I tell you I was nervous. I do not intentionally use a coupon more than once, but I do use all the coupons I can get my hands on if they're really good. She was gone quite a while but she came back on and said that my order would be delivered on the 20th and it's too late to cancel the order.
Then she asked me where I got the coupons. Since I get them all over the web and in my email and regular mail and in with orders from some sites, I honestly didn't remember where I got these particular coupons. So I said, "I do so much business online... I really just don't remember."
Like I always say "Try NOT to ever have to talk to customer service!"

Well there could be a few reasons your being charge for the $15. or over charged.

1) One of the $15. codes was for first time shoppers, but when the it was posted here it didn't state that. So if have ordered there before and used this code then there chargen you for it!
2) If your just being over charged like i use its because they have different prices at other staples store and there charging you the price from that store, sometimes it more & sometimes its less.

But in any case you should call there 800# tell them the problems and they should fix it. Now i had to call them 3 times and everytime i called they were nice and helped be out. So when you call them "BE NICE" and i'm sure they'll credit your CC back.

If they won't remove the charges, be sure to dispute the charges with your credit card company IN WRITING. You must do this, I believe, within 60 days of the charge to preserve your rights. I'd enclose a copy of your order confirmation and/or packing slip or invoice which shows a smaller amount. If an invalid coupon was used, certainly they could email you before shipping and let you know that the corrected amount will be $xxx, do you still want to order? They do not have the right to charge you for more than you authorized. See post on this board by TTL6U on credit card problems. I printed it for future reference, it gives some great info. I will really be watching my credit card statements!

I got home tonight to a message from a Staples CSR - says one of my orders is on hold for same reason, used same code twice.

So I call (on hold forever) and talk to a rep - I told him "oops, didn't mean to" and asked if I could use another code instead - I said that I knew there's been a big code fiasco, so would he ming verifying if my code was valid. I gave him the #90287 ($15 off $15) he said it was a valid code so my order isn't $.17, it's now $4 something but works for me!

So try using a different code w/the rep in place of the twice-used one. I can't believe I actually got great service from Staples! Miracles really do happen, LOL

My orders at Staples are starting to come through - but with items that were "out-of-stock" just left off the order. So, now, I'm paying the shipping rates without the merchandise I ordered. Yesterday the free paper/post-its/pens arrived (not really worth the price of shipping)- I'll see today if my $15off coupon was credited or if I was charged full price for the 1 remaining "in-stock" item...... hmmmmm


I've had NO email verification from them regarding my orders, just a listing of out-of-stock itmes and shipping notification - no time to try to correct the order or substitute items or even cancel! No one is replying to my emails (of nearly a week ago, now) Hmmmm.....

I sent Staples an email last saturday telling them I was overcharged. I got an email yesterday from them saying to call the 800 number and they will take care of it.

I called today and hardly any questions were asked and they credited my account for 2 orders with 2 different $15 coupons.

Maybe it was 'customer appreciation week' at staples

I ordered 2 ink cartridges for my printer using the 20.00 off of 50.00. (can't remember the code, but I can look it up if you want it.)Got the black cartridge the next business day, but had to call CS as the color one never came. They sent one out right away. I am still waiting for my cc statement to see what the actual charge was, but I printed the checkout info to keep. One thing I did notice, since I got 2 seperate packing lists, 1 for each item, the amount for the cartridges differs from their site. They better give me the original prices, or I'll be back on the phone. Overall their cs was great to me, they were very nice. So all in all, I got the two items for 35.00. They normally sell for about 30.00 a piece.

they did it again.....took my codes....never sent the products....I called them, they said the codes were not good and they cancelled the order....received e-mail saying the codes were no good.. then received e-mail that they were sending my order out....checked the site,,,order still there with the coupons applied....received my order at FULL price......they are sending UPS to pick it all up- don;'t want it at full price!!!

Staples really got me with all their coupons and stuff. I ordered several things but because a few of them were out of stock my order just went on hold. After a week I called and they said they didn't know why the order was on hold but that they would send it out right away. The next day a third of my order arrived and that was it, complete with a wrong item and I was charged full price. So I called and was then told the other two-thirds of my order was out of stock and therefore cancelled with no notice to me. They also were going to send through a credit for $17 for the mischarge but it only came across as $9. The next day they were supposed to send me the correct item that was wrong but instead they only sent the wrong one again. It took a third trip before they got it right. Needless to say dealling with Staples has been a big enough hastle for me that I won't do it again.

I had used one, count it one, coupon, did not get e mail confirmation so I called. The first time the girl asked me to call back 2 days later so I did. They totally lost my order so had to go through it with their CS rep again. Got order but was charged strange amount on CC. Waiting for statement to see if they charged again. they are too much trouble with no easy apologies even for good coupons.This is a BIG company who can't get their orders any where near right. Also, got their catalog for late winter and their prices are not even the same the same day as I got catalog. Can we say-raise our prices when we offer coupon. We have much more ethics than that on this board- will not deal with again!

Got my Amex statement yesterday, they charged me full price too. I didn't bother to email, just called them direct. CS credited me right then and there for my coupon plus the tax. I'm glad they did it, but I won't order online from them again.
