Okay, I am sure we have already beaten this topic to death, but I came across another example of possibly "exclusive" code again and have to vent (this one from Amazon).
It just drives me crazy that there is no way for companies to figure out who is supposed to use the coupon without first taking our orders, giving us an order reciept then cancelling or over-charging when they supposedly find out that it was an "exclusive" code. I have run a small business myself and I am sure it overwhelms some of these smaller places when they offer a code and it gets around, but dang it all, then they shoudn't put out a code that isn't customer-specific. Don't these people look around at the internet shopping community before they drop one of these no minimum, $x off codes? I don't know how they can profess to be surprised when people place orders that work out to be freebies. Isn't that the whole concept of coupons and stuff, seeing how much you can get for the minimum amount of money?! I have been sent three specific codes from stores in the last couple of weeks, these are stores I have ordered from, and they are non-transferrable, one-time deals. I wish all these stores who claim they can't handle the extra traffic would take lessons. I don't want to put anyone out of business, but if you offer me a deal like that, don't be surprised if I take it, along with a million of my closest friends. And don't suddenly act all surprised and cancel the orders. Not only do we share codes and coupons, we share our experiences and you are risking a lot more than just money; maybe your reputation should mean as much.
Okay, off my soapbox.
