Just received email stating: "Dear Boatscape.com Customer: We regret to inform you that due to an unwarranted distribution of promotional materials your Boatscape.com order cannot be processed. The promotional code KICMHD was illegally distributed without the consent of Boatscape.com." Just thought i would let everyone know that ordered there yesterday! Corky |

Is it me or is this happening so much more now? I heard a rumor that Egghead is doing the same thing - unconfirmed but overheard. I guess I can't be too upset, but imagine the people who had the codes given to them directly from the company - and their orders get canceled too - now that would make me mad. Win some, lose some, get some free, get some canceled. Always worth a try. One thought though, I wonder how many of these companies that claim "illegal distribution" of codes might only be using that defense when the promotion gets them in for more than they bargained for after millions of people in hundreds of countries suddenly hear of these start-up or smaller companies? |

Ang379, I agree with your little theory. I think little company's and the big one's too get way swamped with orders with special codes. Then I guess they realize that they will lose a big profit and that maybe all these customer's are just using the code for the one time deal. Gotta admit that myself, there's only a handful of online merchants I regularly buy from..... |

I just got their email stating: Dear Boatscape.com Customer: We regret to inform you that due to an unwarranted distribution of promotional materials your Boatscape.com order cannot be processed. The promotional code KICMHD was illegally distributed without the consent of Boatscape.com. Although we are committed to providing every Boatscape.com customer with the best prices available, we cannot compromise the integrity of our business by recognizing promotional activities, which are not validated and distributed directly from Boatscape.com. Rest assured, at no time was any confidential personal or financial information exposed or compromised during this process. Needless to say, Boatscape.com will not acknowledge or support unsolicited promotional activities. We would like to offer you a new promotional code, QOISNJ, valid in the amount of $15 towards any purchase of $50 or more at Boatscape.com. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and encourage you to take advantage of our new promotional discount. We hope you enjoy our website and look forward to continuing to serve your every boating need. Thank you, The Boatscape.com Crew I must say that I'm impressed that they acknowledged the situation instead of pulling it w/out explanation or flat-out lies. The only issue I have is that I bet they would have absolutely no problem w/someone putting this new code on the Internet because it's actually making them money. So they would condone posting this new code (the glaring lack of "don't distribute this code to avoid another problem") but will cancel the orders using codes that equate in financial loss. Now - as a capitalist speaking - I don't blame 'em. Business is business. But it's still in poor taste to give a code to all the people whose orders are canceled for using a code. |

I too received my egghead products. Mighty fast too, I ordered Friday morning and the items were on my doorstep Monday afternoon. Thumbs up for EGGHEAD!! However, I have not received an email stating the order I placed with Boatscape was canceled as of yet. [This message has been edited by loveadeal (edited 02-22-2000).] |
