Found this site, synfonic.com ,that offers free stock quotes that you can check from your mobile phone. Basically, its the same type of service as google or yahoo.

To use it:

send a text message with: stock yhoo
to this number: 16504307183
get a sms back with yahoo quote info.

They say no SPAM but please read their SPAM policy for yourself before you send in anything. This service might be useful for all you day traders out there.

Also, for anyone who isn't quite ready to enter the real stock market yet, there are sites out there which give you free *pretend* money to invest. One such site is [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] which gives you a *pretend* $100,000 to invest. The site gives you a free account to manage your stocks, and allows you to pick 20 different companies with which to inveest $5,000 each. When you start off a new account, 20 different stocks have been preselected for you (not sure what selection algorithm they use - it may be random), but you can change these selections simply by clicking the "trade" button next to the stock and selecting a new stock with which to replace your old. The site is still under some construction in places, but it is run by the The League of American Investors and you might want to go check it out.
