If you didn't get the reply card, its quite dishonest to use the code. They call that stealing.

Read the dictionary of your choice. The basic definition of stealing is to take something which you have not the right to take. A code is required so that only those with permission may obtain this particular freebie. If you did not receive said code, you did not receive permission, and therefore, have not the right to obtain this freebie. If you attempt to obtain this freebie regardless of this fact, then you have chosen to participate in the act of stealing, and thus, by definition, are a thief.
