Really dumb question

On the top of the forum page where it says you have ? new messages. You have ? messages unread in all your folders. What is this referring to? What folders? Is it to posts you've made or have you received a message from someone? How do you access the message? I've been here for awhile now, but never noticed this before and it now says I have one unread message, but where the heck is it?

It's referring to your PM's (private messages).
If you go to the drop down box below this post, click and scroll all the way to the top of it and you will see "Private Messages". Click there and then you can see what messages you have recieved. You may just have to look around in there to find old messages and clean out everything you don't want for that old message to dissappear.
