Trading Question--Need Advice

All you trading experts--help! I need some advice.

I'm considering doing a trade with a new member. He/she just joined the Board yesterday, probably for the purpose of making the trade with me. It is a significant amount of money (over $100).

What I want to know is whether there any real risk to me if they pay by paypal and I wait until the funds clear to send their item? Is the risk of a charge-back significant? Anything else I'm not thinking of?

I've done many e-bay deals using paypal and all have gone very smoothly. If you are asking if DOD will accept responsibility if your trade doesn't work out, the answer is no.

You may want to check with Paypal. They have some type of guarantee if the person is verified. I am not sure how it works but it may be helpful to you. Good Luck with the trade. I hope that it goes well for you!

luvmetender: actually, it never occurred to me that DOD would reimburse me for a bad trade, but thank you for your response.

thanks also to wss. I've heard some bad things about paypal and chargebacks, but i'm glad to hear that most haven't had many problems.
