| Can't access DOD using www.dealofday.com !!
Some of you know that I've been having this problem, since Friday, just after noon. I can't access Deal of Day through [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or
Register Now] I get "The page cannot be displayed." Likewise, I can't get into chat using mIRC. It says, "Unable to resolve IRC server." I called my ISP, and also had some e-mail communication with them, and they say it's at DOD's end. Here is the information I have, so far: ----------------- Thank you for your email. It appears to be a problem with the way the site [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] is hosted. It seems that they have it listed by IP address instead of by domain. You would have to write to that web site to inform them of this issue. Sincerely, bright.netŪ Technical Support Center ----------------- We have done a trace route on the address of [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] It dies out on the trace. You can try this if you would like. Get on line, click on start run, type in command. When the command prompt comes up type in the words tracert [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] You will see that it dies. Then try it again this time typing in tracert 64.58.34.143 , you will see that will trace all the way through. There is an issue some where between us and that website, it could be a routing issue etc. Sincerely, bright.netŪ Technical Support ----------------- Okay, so I did the trace route: ----------------- Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Now Auti is having the exact same problem. We can access the site using the IP address, but if you click on a link and it doesn't use the IP address, the only way you can view a link is to substitute the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] part with 64.58.34.143. So, does anyone know what the problem is? This is a heck of a way to get an education about the way the internet works!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!

| AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET ME IN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok Mayor.. what's up.. what did I do.. Am I Banned???? Have I not been using your links enough??? I cleaned out Target.com through your link! Several more cows had to be slaughtered in order to fill my Omaha steaks order. Allure loves me, or hates me. I guess that depends on whether or not they wanted to get rid of all that stuff... and, if Macy's honors that obvious price error.. well... I'll never be in need of another silver (colored) bowl again..... SOOOO... I do and do and do for your site, and this is the thanks I get?? (Sorry, Letterman flashback).. I WANT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Auti (Aka Autumn96)

I have not been able to get in all day either. Got the same type of message. I finally got in about 10 mins. ago. I delete my History throughout the day several times, so I don't know what the problem was.

It's pretty frustrating. Like I said, it's been this way for me since Friday, and as you can see, I've gone to a lot of trouble to try to find out what the problem might be. No one has answered me as to if they are checking on it. YEP, I'M MAJORLY FRUSTRATED! But I'll be okay................ |

Thanks, Mayor, for getting back to me. GOOD NEWS! Last night, I did Windows Update, and installed about 6 updates and new drivers, and ......... NOW IT'S WORKING!!!!!!! I don't know if that's what did it, but I'm a happy camper now! Auti......try it. Let us know if that works for you! |

Ok, remain calm. Mayor is probably very busy and wasn't able to answer your question. As far as the main page at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] is concerned, it sounds like its a routing issue, meaning it should fix itself. I doubt there is any setting you could change other than clearing your cache . If the connection is dying when you leave Sprintlink, you aren't even making a connection with a DOD server. That is a routing issue most likely from Sprint. The carriers usually know about these problems and fix them automatically. A line could have been cut somewhere and they are rerouting traffic. Be patient - or you could dial an ISP in another part of the country and connect to DOD (that way you have new routing). ![]() Ryan

After a nightmare yesterday trying to connect, I was finally able to log on in the early evening for about a half hour before it died again. ![]() This morning, tech support from my ISP called me bright & early at 8am to let me know that it looked like whatever problem was gone since they were finally able to connect. The email server also appears to be working - I've had no problems connecting there either. (I think I've managed to addict a few more people to DOD since tech support spent a good amount of time this morning looking at the site )Hopefully, whatever it was that was giving me the "Page Cannot Be Found" errors will stay away - not being able to access email was bad enough, but no boards? Ugh.... |

I got an email from rafala this morning and she can't get into dod either. Pip gave her the address she's been using but I haven't heard back from her if it worked or not. She contacted me by using my email address that she retained from playing the last Survivor game. Who knows how many more are out there that can't get in and don't have anyone to contact to ask for help?? What's going on?
