What am I doing wrong with the www.?

Why is it when I try to put in a
www.????.com it doesn't become linkable? Not sure if that is the right word for it........LOL Thanks to who ever can help me with this.

i never use the thing at the top of the message, i have always done it manually, and by that all you have to remember to do is have a space before the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] especially when it is the first thing on a post

also, right underneath this box where you can post is the check box where you can check it off to AUTOMATICALLY PARSE URLS : it automatically add url around the internet addresses
