Search Engine Not Working?

hey mods....have noticed a lot of dupl post (especially in the freebie forum) and i myself have done some dupl post a couple of days ago that kat caught...i posted that i was positive that i had seen them on the board but the search engine bought up nothing!!! and kat found them and replied to my posts....so my question is...is it working properly? im hoping that everyone is doing a search prior to posting...but i myself have noticed that its not always finding them.....seems like lately...its noting working very well...and as always i use the advanced search by the url and other key words before i post? any ideas?

Hi Lisa

Like I posted in the freebie forum, I've found that the best way to do a search is by using the URL to search (ie - if the item is to be found at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] then I search for sampledogs). This seems to bring back the greatest number of hits and then I can check to see if this is for the same offer or something totally different at the same website.

I too use the advanced search & keyword and leave it on match all. I don't specify a forum or anything else - maybe that's the difference?? If not, then don't worry about it - it could be something as simple as a burp on the net and there's not much you can do about that. I just wish everyone would use the search function before they post - I hate it when I fill out an entire form only to realise that I've already filled it out before. Worse yet, I'm sure that I've lost out on offers by asking for them twice because so many are now once-per-household and they'll delete both when you unwittingly ask for it the second time.

and yes..i always do a search by the url first ... but sometimes they use the main link .. whereas i use the direct link to the form...and i use a exact match..so i think that might be what my problem is? lol..who knows..could still very well be brain fart have a good one

Ggl., ggl. I've helped keep Kat busy today myself..I had two of my posts locked because they were dupis!! UGH the shame! LOL! BTW..sorry I use the URL also to search..today on one of mine I even used both search features..next time I won't select "exact match" also and hopefully that will work...otherwise, you Mods are going to have your hands full! Thanks for keeping the boards clean ~

i dont think the search button is working at all now since we've done the upgrade

i tried to do a search on the word seasonings (i know many many posts on seasonings have been made) and nothing came up

tried again on tshirt...tshirts...and nothing came up?

I'm pretty sure they know about it. I think I read a post in the Moderator forum regarding this so hopefully a solution is in the works.

Lisa! I am so glad that you noticed. Like in the freebies, I see a Wisk post. Now I KNOW that is a repost, but I can't get anything but the latest post to come up. I tried the link, the words laundry and Wisk, exact match, not exact match, you name it. Glad to see I am not alone.

I've been unable to log on for hours at a time and am just going post by post now that I did finally make it in.

sorry jeff ... just read this post this morning I thought i saw something posted in g.c.c. about the quick search will go right now and read it to see what its about....if it doesnt relate to the search button not working .... then i will post something

ok...another thing i dont like about the search!!! where you have to put at least 3 or 4 words before it would take the search? guys know what im talking about? and ive noticed that it doesnt always do this....just sometimes

Yes, Lisa, that happens to me too! One time I had FIVE words and still said it...UGH...I am not gonna use it...just relying on my memory and hope I don't repost. If you catch one of mine, please let me know and bump up the OP.

i just get agrivated that i KNOW i saw the post.....and i cant find it and neither can the search feature...then im on a mission to find it manually (going through pages and pages lol) i know i know...i have problems (hee hee) hopefully it will be fixed soon
