Pop-ups
Hey there... I've been browsing DoD for the past half hour or so and I have exactly 25 popups... I blocked them using IE for the site...but it doesn't block them all the way - it just moves them down to my toolbar. Any suggestions on getting rid of them? Might there be a setting or soemthing in the user cp I'm missing?

Sorry, no, there isn't, you are kind of stuck with them. Several of us, who have been here for years and really got tired of them, have taken to using a different browser that you can download free, that someone posted about one day. You can use it to block all the ads on the page, including the pop-ups. You might want to look into it, it is called Maxthon, you can find it very easily with a google search.

Hi,

I use IE and don't have any problems w/pop-ups on here or anywhere else. Your virus protection program will usually have a pop-up blocker in it. I use AVG and it does. Also, go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now], [Only registered and activated users can see links. Yep, Maxthon blocks them. However, if you have WinXP, you have an internal firewall and pop-up blocker, you just have to go into your Internet Options and turn it on.

That's what I have, Windows XP Pro version. Did that, but some still get through and AVG takes care of the rest.

I also use AVG, but it doesn't get rid of the pop-ups. I use Zone Alarm, the Window's Firewall, and Maxthon XP.

I use Opera browser and it has a feature to block popups
already enabled by default
You can turn on and off pop-ups with the F12 key
