Search question?

Hi,

What is the best/correct way to do a search to find out if somethings already been posted? Some of my searches come up with nothing, and others I find right away and then know not to post the same thing. Some of the searches that I've done and I'm new at this, that come up with nothing aren't right as I find out later on that the item (freebie) was already posted. What am I doing wrong? I want to fix it so I don't mess up the boards.

Well first off, please don't worry so much about posting a duplicate, it does happen to all of us now and then. As to help searching, I made a post on that in found a freebie just recently, here's the link, scroll to the bottom of this post:

If you use the link I have in there, you get the advanced search page, so you can search just the freebie forum. Usually I just type in a word or two of what I am checking, for instance, if it is a free sample of Aquafresh, I would type in Aquafresh, click to have it search only the Freebie Forum in the forums box on the right side of the page, and then do the search, leaving the other stuff set on default by not changing anything.

Then, you will get all Aquafresh posts that have been made using that word in the title or description, you can just go down through that page of search results and see if the sample you want to post is on there. No search is fool proof, so you will never find everything, but using as few words as possible and setting it for a specific forum, usually gets better results.

Thanks for the help - I've been typing "as many" words in the search box as I could to describe what I'd found!!! No wonder I confused the search thingy!
And I did it under advanced too, and I "think" all the forums! I like your way a LOT better

LOL! Yeah, doing it that way gets you tons of unrelated stuff on the search. Anytime you do a search, for more specificity, you should always use as few words as possible.
