| Thread Deleted (Unsure why) Hi, I noticed a thread I posted in the affiliate forum is now missing. It fell within the guidelines of that forum (from what I read), so I'm a bit bewildered by this. Was it an error? Should I repost? No one PM'd me about it, so I don't know. Hope you can help.

I guess it's an error then, since no one claims to have deleted it. I'll repost it now. (Thankfully I have it saved.) ![]() Thanks for listening. |

| Re: Thread Deleted (Unsure why) It was more then likely me. If it is the post I remember then it had two offers in one post with out the subject line having the name of the program or the URL in it. If you repost them please make them two separate posts so that you can put the name of the program or the URL in the subject line. If this is not the post you are referring to then I don't know that one and the ones that were not following the 90 day rule are the only ones I have gotten rid of lately.

I wish you had PM'd me, because I would have edited the thread accordingly, but thankfully I have it saved. (I'll edit it into two) Also, perhaps you missed it, but I did include the program names in the title on both occasions. I read pandybats post carefully, and made sure of including that information, so the deletions came as quite a shock. I take it that the issue was the two sites being mentioned in one thread. I thought I was being prudent in combining them, but I'll do as you say and split them. Thanks for coming forward. ![]() |

| Re: Thread Deleted (Unsure why) And your posts have been deleted again! You claimed it was not one where you had to sign up for a bunch of offers to get the freebie, so I used a junk email address of mine to sign up under you and they ARE those kinds of offers. Most of these offers are scams and we do not allow them at DOD! You stated: "No, it wasn't a pyramid scheme, nor did it require a million offers, but it was a referral based site (Gratis Internet), and fell within the catergory that you and pandybat described as allowed in the Affiliate Spam central forum." And sorry, we do not have time, nor do we have to, PM every person whose posts we removed or delete. If we did that, we would never have time in our lives for anything else! |

However, you are absolutely correct about most of these sites being scams. The sites you speak of quickly popped up after the companies that run the sites I posted about, Gratis Internet and Offercentric, started up years ago. A couple of things you may not have known... There are already several threads in your Affiliate Spam forum for Gratis and Offercentric websites. I only started the threads I did, upon seeing pre-existing threads of the same nature, and the sticky "rules/guidelines" threads that specified in what manner they could be posted. The particular sites are newer offerings from those companies, and naturally weren't duplicates. You may not be familiar with them, but both companies are publicly recognized as being legitimate internet marketing companies. Gratis, in particular, is quite well known: Offercentric, while not having been around as long, is the Pepsi to their Coke. They have also proved themselves to be legitimate, yet in the shadow of Gratis Internet. You can find similar information about their Notebook site here: Quote:

I won't go into specific detail as to what a pyramid scam is, they're pretty well known as involving the exchange of money to criminals. Perhaps some fraudulent sites do involve that, but these two reputable companies advertise for companies like Blockbuster, AOL, Netflix and others. If any money were to change hands, it would be between you and one of them. Anyhow, I wanted to explain that and clear my name. If you still don't want such sites posted in that forum, I'd suggest cleaning out what's there already. It, and the stickies, certainly led me to believe otherwise. I certainly won't repost the threads again without prior approval. Last edited by Free Laptops; 03-10-2006 at 03:37 AM. |

| Re: Thread Deleted (Unsure why) Because none of us are paid for this, we can only be on in our spare time and naturally do not catch everything. If you find those types of post, and wish for them to be taken care of faster, you can post the links to them here for us, or you can use the report thread to moderators link that is on each post. |

| Re: Thread Deleted (Unsure why) I spent some time in that forum, think I found them all and removed them. If you see any I missed, please let me know. Some of the threads had also been moved to a private, locked, admin only forum, but someone left the redirects on them, so the general membership could still access them and I had to fix those as well. Thank you for alerting me to the junk. |

Like I said, they were the reason I posted mine, so they're pretty obvious. |

| Re: Thread Deleted (Unsure why) Chill out, remember you do not run these forums, if you wish to run one, then please feel free to start your own. Oh and the definition of a pyramid scheme is a lot more than the exchange of money with criminals. It is any trickle down money scheme, where the greater amount of money stays at the top and the little guy at the bottom gets nothing! |
