Re: What Can I put in my Signature?

"You will not post, transmit, or distribute any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials or other forms of solicitation to Users, individuals or entities, except in areas designated by DealofDay.com for such purposes. You will not post information to Users, individuals or entities that promotes, arranges or solicits business or business dealings, including but not limited to, multilevel marketing programs, "get rich quick” schemes, trading, buying or selling of goods, except in areas designated by DealofDay.com for such purposes. DealofDay.com does not endorse, warrant or guarantee any product or service offered through DealofDay.com Services and will not be a party to or in anyway monitor any transaction between you and third-party providers of products or services. As with the purchase of a product or service through any medium or environment, you should use caution and your best judgment at all times. Blind opportunity ads and "get rich quick" schemes should be approached with ample skepticism. DealofDay.com cannot mediate disputes and will not assume responsibility for any outcome."

This is item 10 in the T.O.S.
As long as the signature does not violate this (or another of the items which you can review in that section of Deal of Day) it is okay. To have a signature with a URL that should be posted in one of the other available forums, would be a violation.

First question: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

Moderators also have the final say on what is considered spam, unacceptable posts and etc.

Second Question:
and maybe!

Re: What Can I put in my Signature?

Yes, I agree with Mrbowler that there are far too many "spam" type links here, especially during the early morning hours. Apparently, people many people have discovered our site and are not like the rest of us. I try to report as many things as I can. Guess we should all keep an eye open.

So should url/link in signature be avoided? I read #10 TOS-so I have a good idea as to what is not allowed...Can you provide a example of a url/link that would be allowed? This came from info you provided in faq.

"What is the signature for?
After you have registered, you may set your signature. This is a piece of text that you would like to be inserted at the end of all your posts, a little like having headed note paper.

If the administrator has enabled signatures, then you will have the option to include your signature on any posts you make. If you have specified a signature, then the forum will automatically append your signature to any messages you post. You can disable signatures on a per-post basis by un-ticking the 'Show Signature' checkbox when you compose your message.

You may turn the signature on and off on posts you have already made by editing the post and altering the state of the 'Show Signature' option.

You can set your signature by editing your profile."

I try to help out also reporting problems...glad that I'm not alone in combating spammers. Had posted some suggestion/ideas in other thread(forum) a little while back.

Re: What Can I put in my Signature?

Okay, for a sig line, if you put in a link to a regular homepage, that is not spam and does not compete with DOD, we will usually allow it. For instance if you just have pics of your kids and family on it, then it is really not a problem.

The problem arises however, when someone puts in competing links or links to sites they use for referrals, to make money and etc.

As to the spammers, we do try to handle them as soon as we see them or are informed about them but we can only do so much at once and sometimes we don't catch them all. I am glad you are not shy about reporting them as that really helps us keep up on it.

Re: What Can I put in my Signature?

Ok I think

I have seen some signatures that have promoted business/work for themselves. Since that doesn't compete with DOD is that why it is
allowed?

TIA

Re: What Can I put in my Signature?

Actually it just means that with thousands of members, we can't police all sig lines. We take care of them as we find them.

If you find any that need changing, please feel free to let us know.
