Shocked Avatar and attachment question

Color me dumb (lol) but when I look at other peep's avatars, there are some great images(some animated gifs),but anytime i try to add anything of my own(aside from DOD avatars),i get a message that the image is too large, even when its a very tiny image and even when i copy someone else's avatar ?! Is there a way to resize an animated gif to use on here?

Also, how are people inserting images in their posts LOL ,,I tried attachments, but it put a link to the image instead of inserting it on the form.

Im sorry if the information about this is elsewhere on the site,.i couldnt find it (and here im supposed to be an internet expert hehe)
Thanx for any help!!!!

Hi!

About your avatar - I have a program that can resize an animated gif - I think a few other members do as well - just let me know where I can either find it on the web or else email it to me with DOD GIF in the subject and I can do it for you.

About pictures in a post - the picture needs to be "hosted" somewhere on the web in order to show up in the post instead of as a link. The free webservers like Geocities generally do NOT allow such hosting - it needs to be done on your ISP (most give you free room to put up your own images/webpage). Once you've found a place to host your image, just use the following code to have it appear in your post (removing the spaces inside of the [ ] ): [ img ]http://www.dealofday.com/board//board/images/dealtalk.gif[ /img ]

Just remember that you cannot just use a picture that is on your hard drive - it needs to be on the web for the rest of us to see it.

I hope that helps!
