I am actually guilty of most of those, however i own 2 cars one is a 98 and the other is an 85. The 85 is the spare car that my bf is using for now. I hate beans and won't eat 'em!! Ramen noodles are a different story. My house never needs painting so that solves the paint problem. I always shop at the bread store for deals and I buy some packages that are dented. I won't buy dented can goods because they don't store as long. I love making my own seasonings. Sorry, old undies get thrown away!!! My mother is a hairdresser so I get free hair products. I am lazy so my dryer is used ALOT. What is wrong with reusing containers?

Just saved all the yogurt containers so I can open a #10 can of pizza sauce and divvy it up for the freezer. :)
I don't use the outdoor clothesline. They are not really used in this neighborhood.8\ My washer spins most of the water out anyway so clothes don't take as long in the dryer as when I had a regular washer.
I have always wanted to use the paint from goof ups or returns, but just haven't....yet.;)
Love hand-me-downs! "Hand me downs" aren't always faded, worn, hole-y rejects. LOL Dd gets hers from a neighbor who gets tired of something long before the fading begins or just grows out of something prematurely. I have saved a bundle on her clothes!
You didn't put "cleaning with old socks" on the list! LOL :D

The old underwear is used for cleaning, not wearing. I don't save margerine tubs because the preschool requested stuff like that for projects. One of our cars is 10 years old, the other is newer but was bought to replace a car that was nearly 10 years old. We only buy new cars when we can't fix/repair them for less than the value of the car (ie, if it'd cost $1500 to repair a car that's only worth $900 when it's running well, we replace it). We buy a lot of food and paper goods in bulk, and usually buy generic brands. Hubby and I buy new clothes, but the kids get a lot of hand-me-downs and stuff from rummage sales or second-hand stores.

Now I'm off to vote.
Hmmm...won't ever use a clothes line. Tried it once. After everything was all hung I returned to the house and looked out the window to see all my clean laundry down on the ground.:{
Save some of the containers or send them to work for dh to toss after he eats his leftovers.
Off to see what else was on that list.

Guilty of watering down the shampoo? Sure am, I want to get that last drop out of the bottle. I don't need paint, at least not for the outside of our house, it's brick. Dented cans, don't buy them, but I do wait for canned goods to go on sale.
Here's a funny story and a good reason not to have a clothesline, you'll see why. When we moved to our house, we had a clothesline in the backyard, it was strung from tree to tree. Well, we also live in a wooded area. One day I took the clothes in, put on a dress to wear to work, my favorite floral dress. I drove to the corner to go out onto the main drag and I felt something crawling inside my dress. I'm sitting in my car screaming, I look, and it's like an earwig, one of those bugs with all those legs. I was totally freaking out at that time. I got the bug out, but it was too late to go back home to change clothes. I got to work, told them the story, they let me take a few minutes in the bathroom to take off the dress in one of the cubicles to make sure there were no other bugs. Needless to say, that was the last time I used the clothesline, and we removed it soon afterwards. Ugh, never want to have that experience again.

I would be more than willing to buy dented packages at the grocery store, but I mainly shop at walmart and they don't do that. They do mark bakery items down pretty cheap sometimes.I always find some use for the glass jelly jars and such. I just can't throw them away! I do take clothes from my friends or sister when they get tired of them. My cars a 93. We always drive older cars and even when we buy a new car, we buy used.

I have never seen a bin for dented canned goods in my store. I think Stop & Shop charges you the same whether it is dented or not. Am I suppose to point out the dent to the cashier??? How do you get money off?
I remember when I was young, my mother getting mad at me if she sent me to the store and I bought a dented can. She said you could get sick? I never asked her how? I have used dented cans and never got sick. Does anyone know why my mother would think it was not good to buy dented cans?

There used to be a thought that if the can was dented it was not sealed properly. People used to think you could get botulism or something from it.

I love the story about the bug in the dress! EWW..
Our dryer quit last spring and my husband was so excited he built this big multi level clothes line in the back yard. His mom always hung the clothes out and he figured we could just do that through the summer. I don't mind it too much but it goes so slow...Jeans take forever to dry. After a couple weeks of that I was ready to go out and get a new dryer, but DH couldn't be convinced until he walked out there one day and a bird had left a nice surprise on one of HIS shirts!! We got a new dryer...I still hang sheets outside in the summer because I love how they smell. :)

If the vacuum seal is broken on the can (usually around the rim) then bacteria can get in and spoil the can's contents. But if the dent is minor and on the side then it should be okay.
The Stop & Shops near my house usually have a little bin in the back of the store near the dairy that had dented cans and discontinued items marked down. It is near the 1/2 price bakery goods shelf, not to be confused w/ the marked down produce rack near the produce stockroom door.

Yes, can't the bottle just be turned upside down and left that way until the product is all used up? ?(
AndersonGal

Well some people add water AFTER that has been done (to get every last drop) and some people pour 1/2 in another bottle then they fill with water.
I only do the first one.:)

my whole house is painted with opps paints from home depot. my house is soo colorful and the paint only cost $1 per quart or $5 per gallon-and that is for Ralph Lauren paint!!!
we just bought a new home and guess what we used to paint the walls?? you got it-more opps paint! we have saved hundreds of dollars this way and our home looks great!! If there is not enough of the color you like-add white paint to it or just mix it up with another color (of OPPS paint of course). :)
Also, both of my vehicles are 10 years old. I also had a 77 vw bus that I just sold 3 weeks ago (I loved it too!!-it was sooo cool!) Iam fortunate enough to have a mobile mechanic who maintains our vehicles for us and they are in great shape
Iam also a coupon queen so I have lots of stockpiles of stuff that I got for free after coupons-tons of shampoo (when you get to the very end-add a little bit of water and use it to wash your slips, hose, ect. you can do the same with the bit at the end of the Tide too) lots of deoderant, toothpaste, floss, foil/wraps/saran wrap, oven bags, soap (dish, bath and clothing), chapstick, and much much more!!! Belive it or not, that was a small list.
It really pays to be a bit frugal!!

I shop mostly at walmart, so I don't get the dented cans....I do water down my shampoo though. I mix it 2 parts shampoo to 1 part water, same for conditioner, works great. I mix fabric softener 1/2 and 1/2 with water, dh was always using WAY too much for the clothes. (Lucky me, he does most of the washing) Hubby and I try to see who can get their undies to last the longest before getting holey. We date our underwear on the waistband with a laundry marker. So far, I'm winning, but I think thats because I wear nylon panties and his are 100% cotton. His are going to be 3 years old in July...definitely worth spending a little more for a quality brand. Mine are almost 5 years old. Kids are learning to call the thrift store the "treasure store". We buy lots of used toys and shop at consignment stores. My 9yo has discovered a store that buys used video games and trades in games he's outgrown or doesn't like. He would much rather pay $9 for the game that was $60 when it was new.

I water down my conditioner 1:1 before using.
I water down my fabric softener 1:1 before using.
I do put water in with the last remaining product of practially anything and everything. Why waste?
I dry clothes out on the line sometimes if there's not a lot of pollen in the air. Things dry in a few minutes out here in the summer and a few hours during the winter. I also use the drier though... so it's a toss up.
I don't drive - no car - bad eyesight.
I like beans. Should eat them more often.
I always took hand me downs when offered when raising my growing-like-a-weed son.
I rarely use paper towels for cleaning windows and use older cut up clothing or sheets/pillowcases. Wash/dry/reuse.
I don't buy windex type products anymore... use vinegar to water.

I won't take the risk with my family of eating from dented cans. Unfortunately I've had to get food from the food pantry and some of their cans were dented but I don't think the risk is worth it. I did read this online about dented cans:
How Does Canned Food Become Unsafe?
When a can is dented, it makes it possible for air to enter the can. A sharp dent can cause a pinhole in the can, which could also allow air to enter. This air, combined with the moisture in the can, allows the growth of microorganisms. These microorganisms cannot be killed by cooking.
Consumption of this food could potentially result in botulism. Cans that are bulging or have rust that will not wipe off are also deemed unsafe.
