If you are planning to send the demo out to labels, don’t waist your time; major labels will not listen to unsolicited recordings because they have been sued in the past for rejecting material and then releasing “similar” melodies from established artists. Also, most commercial radio stations will loosen up playlists for unsigned or untested bands.

Some radio stations will play unsigned bands but that is usually hidden on set programs that air late Sunday evening- the time when few are listening to radio in general.

Your best bet is to lobby college radio, but you must support it by doing interviews and free concerts in the area. Also, do a search for private promoters to do your label and radio exposure for you. Moses Media in Florida is a good one, as well as Left Bank in Hollywood, and Pro Sports Music Marketing in Virginia.
