Deal of the Day userid: NinasMommy05
06-23-2007/06-25-2007 - Saw her add on Deal of the Day. Sent several messages back and forth with her (signed her email with "Angela" once) in reference to price of 7 dvd's and shipping costs and gave me a total price of $30 for 7 dvd's which includes shipping. I confirmed to her several times the dvd's I was wanting and my mailing address.
06-25-2007: Paid her with PayPal, and sent and email confirming PayPal was sent and asking her to please email me when she had shipped them.
(no response)
06-29-2007: Emailed her again asking if she had a chance to ship the dvd's yet.
06-29-2007: Received a short email from her telling me she was out of town for the week and wouldn't be able to ship the dvd's until the next week (although she still continued to post sales on Deal of the Day plus in her sales posts she was still listing the dvd's that I had already paid for.)
06-29-2007: Replied back to her asking her to please email me when she got back into town so it would ease my mind.
(no response)
07-06-2007: Emailed her again and asked if she was back in town and if she had mailed the dvd's yet.
(no response)
07-09-2007: Emailed her again with "Please Contact Me" in subject line telling her that I was assuming she was back in town now and to please contact me and let me know when she would be mailing the dvd's. Also told her about how I had seen her posting the same dvd's I had bought on Deal of the Day for sale and I was getting quite nervous. I also mentioned if I didn't hear from her by the end of the week I would dispute it with PayPal.
07-09-2007: Received email from her saying that she had a death in the family that weekend after she got back and was going through a lot of problems and that she'd mail them out asap and would contact me when she had mailed them. This was also the first time she signed her name "Lina".
07-12-2007: Emailed her telling her I hoped she was feeling better and asking if she had mailed them yet and further explaining that I had bought the dvd's for my nephew's birthday which was on the 20th and asked her if she could get them to me by the 20th.
(no response)
07-16-2007: Emailed her again asking what carrier she was using and what state she was in and I'd try and figure out the fastest way to get the dvds to me even if I had to reimburse her the extra costs.
07-16-2007: Replied to me saying she shipped them Parcel Post that morning.
07-16-2007: I checked with USPS and found out that the max time it should get to me would be 7 days at the farthest state away from me (up to this point, she never told me what state she was in).
07-23-2007: I emailed her again asking for her state because I had still not received a package from her, and I let her know what USPS said about it should only take 7 days and it had been 7 days and I had gotten nothing from her. I also asked for a tracking number if she had gotten one.
07-23-2007: She replied back simply saying she had no tracking number and that she lived in Florida.
07-23-2007: I replied saying that it should have only taken 4 days max if she lived in Florida and that I hadn't gotten anything from her. I asked if she's sure she got the address right.
07-23-2007: She replied back saying that she's pretty sure she didn't get the address wrong but she couldn't be sure. She also said that it could have been returned to her so she would wait a few more days and if she didn't receive anything and I didn't receive anything then she'd file a claim for a missing box with the post office.
07-23-2007: I replied to her and asked that in the meantime, could she please refund the $30 that I paid for them back to me since I have did not receive them, and that if by some strange reason the postal system was backed up for all these weeks and I for some strange reason received them, that I would pay her again.
07-23-2007: She replied back saying, "Ordinarily I'd say okay, however I am completely broke at this point in time, This was a bad month for bills. Sorry"
07-23-2007: I replied back asking if she was saying she would not refund my money, and she replied saying that she wouldn't be able to refund my money right now and that I should just give it a while and that maybe it would still show up either at my house or it would be returned to hers.
I have continued to email her periodically since that last email to see if she is in a better position to give me a refund and of course I get no emails whatsoever back from her. I did file a claim with PayPal and it locked her account during the 30 investigation period, so of course she just created a new email and a new user id here and is back here trying to sell her imaginary items to scam more people. And in case you're wondering, PayPal won't help you either. I received a letter back from them saying that yes I was scammed but that they don't guarantee that you'll get your money back when you do get scammed. They also mentioned that if she ever put money in that specific account again that they'd give her a warning (a warning?!!).
My suggestion is, do your research thoroughly before you buy from anyone. Check with PayPal to see how long they have had there account, check to see if they are verified or not, and never pay any money you're not willing to lose. It's a lesson I've had to learn the hard way.
