First, that's wonderful about the benefit and it means John is reaching out to others and getting back out to the world again. It makes so much sense that it was your personal worst day, one month to the day for your Vic, of course it's an awful time for you! ((Hugs))
Calcium deficient is the IV? They'll give it to him that way and it happens sometimes after surgeries or also after illnesses, or even from certain meds that he's taken - I was on one that I had to have potassium added, first IV, then pills and diet, then gradually it straightened out though I still eat bananas like an ape (no comments, please! lol). And also have a potassium level test taken once per year, so he might be doing that with the calcium in the future, but mine have always come out OK, they just make sure. Hang in there...
