Yes, that's true; I've worked in more than one store (and they all took layaways), that would "all" do extensions if you came in and talked to them. Stores don't want to lose your business either, so they're usually very good about extending a layaway if you need more time--everyplace I've worked in that did layaways, would help as much as possible.
