| Re: Took my daughter to a modeling open call.. Having been there when I was younger, I worked for awhile for an agency in Pittsburgh, did a couple calendars and some runway modelling when I was 18/19/20, I can tell you she definitely has exactly what they look for in models. She has that freshfaced youthful look, that is both sultry, sexy and innocent at the same time.
I quit because it just wasn't what I really wanted to do with my life, I was always far more interested in singing and writing, but people always said I could be a model, so I decided to try for awhile and see if I could get a job and do it, I found out I could, played around with it for awhile, and that was enough. Also be sure you pick reputable agencies, one I left after being there only a short time, as they slowly started wanting all us girls to wear less and less clothing, and that is not something I was willing to do at all.
You can usually get a nice portfolio done for around $300 from a good photographer, any agency that hires her will want her to have one already done, so they can use it to promote her for jobs. Unfortunately, they will not provide one and pay for it. When you first start, be it Barbizon, or whatever, you have to do the portfolio on your own at your own expense. When I did it, I ended up doing it, putting some money down, then paying installments, because my dad couldn't afford to help, and I was out living and working on my own. |
