Here are instructions for a few different ornaments. I usually bake cookies, put them in a box or can and put an ornament on top. A great gift for the office or as a host/hostess gift.
Wine Cork Rocking Horse (this is a big hit!)
You'll need:
5 wine corks
thin piece of cork (looks like a sheet of paper)
yarn for tail and mane (I use the maroon with gold interlaced)
small piece of material (to match yarn)
string to hang ornament (I use gold to match)
3 small black pom-poms (or something similar) for eyes and nose
knife
glue gun
Take one cork and leave it as is. This will be the main body. Take two other corks that will be used for the legs. You'll need to diagnolly shave off some of the leg corks so you can glue them on to the body so when you glue the legs on to the body it looka something like this /^\.
Next, take the neck cork and shave it in a similar way as you did the leg corks. Then, take a plain unshaven cork and glue it to the shaved portion of the neck cork. This will be the horse's neck and head/face. It should look something like this I\.
Now, take the neck/head cork and glue it on the body. (I know it's hard to get the picture in your head, but it really does look cool.)
Now, cut a long piece of the thin cork to be used for the rocking part. The piece should go just a little past both horses feet and should be thick enough so the cork feet fit on it without hanging over.
Now it's time for the tail. Take your yarn and wrap it around two fingers abour 10 times. Take the yarn off your fingers and tie it almost in half. (One side should be a little longer than the other.) Glue the tail to the back of the horse, with the smaller side on top.
Now, take your hanging thread and glue to right behind the horses head. NOw it's time for the mane. Wrap your yarn around four fingers about 15 times. Remove the yarn from your fingers and tie it in half equally. Now, attach the mane to the back of the horses head and fan out.
For the saddle, take you scrap material and cut a piece that is large enough to hang over the horses body without touching the bottom.
Add the eyes and nose in appropriate places.
Ta-da. I know this maybe difficult to understand, so feel free to post questions for clarification.
